Part of me thinks Behich and Sainsbury should start tomorrow. Both are fresh and very experienced. Won't happen but one of two could start.

Thank god they're defenders. Nothing would dislodge those two Mexicans atm. (one signed exactly when Behich was)

Tyrese Francois – Fulham’s Man of the Match
Francois was the shining light at the heart of everything Fulham were looking to do. Playing through the middle he drove forward the majority of Fulham’s attacks, overshadowing Luca De La Torre for the most part. He came very close in the second half with a self-created chance from a jinking run leading led to a shot from the edge of the box which passed across the keeper, creeping past the post.

Comfortable with the ball at his feet, he also kept to his defensive duties diligently and showed why he was called up to the First Team’s training camp in Murcia over the international break. Definitely one to watch this season.

For someone so young and performing so well at a decent academy (continually playing up age groups) this guy has flown quite under the radar and escaped the normal hype cycle of Aussies Abroad. Yes, he hasnt played a competitive senior game yet, but hopefully he gets some minutes by the end of the season for the seniors or gets a lower league loan. Surely he will get a look in for our junior teams soon enough, if not called up into one of Arnold's camps. I've never seen anything reported of junior Australian coaches having contacted him.

Seems he was! Both Soccerway and Transfermarkt had him there, and he was wearing number 4 for a change. The match report from Ajax didn't mention it, but it fits with the order of the first XI as written: https://www.ajax.nl/streams/actueel/jong-ajax-kent-weinig-moeite-met-helmond-sport.htm

He played a full match in a 2-0 win, by the way.

When he was with the firsts during pre-season they were mainly using him as a right back in training and in games. People on Dutch sites seemed to be suggesting it was about opportunities especially with some of their transfers.

Odd night for him. Too much vitamin D in Turkey.

He hasn't been in great form. Ranked in the bottom 5 for save percentages so far, though he's still ahead of deGea who is dead last.

Well taken. Hopefully he kicks on.. Is this Serie C?

Yes, but it's a bit of a misnomer. It isn't a 3rd division, rather a group of local leagues at the same level. Basically Italian NPL.

Cruyff played every outfield position for Ajax, can we see a repeat from Wangaratta?

Mebrahtu was subbed on for Sparta in the 86th minute at Ostrava. What a way to debut for a club. Typically spiteful affair with 10 yellow cards. CT headline on the match report is "War in Ostrava". Welcome to Sparta, Golgol :D

https://www.ceskatelevize.cz/sport/fotbal/1-liga/381156-valku-v-ostrave-rozhodl-tetteh-sparta-je-stale-neporazena-a-stiha-vedouci-tandem/

Baroš was listed as injured but they found a way to wheel the injured old fogie out there.

That's awesome news for Mebrahtu.  Sparta are a huge club and the Czech league is actually ranked a lot higher than people realise, only a tick below the Dutch league by most ranking systems and way above scotland. Sparta are the equivalent of Celtic these days standard wise but if golgol was subbed in for Celtic I bet this forum would be losing their shit.

Anyways great effort particularly after only joining couple of weeks back. Along with Giannou and Mabil I think golgol will be the Aussies abroad bolters this yr

Czech is rated 11th for this season compared to Scotland at 23rd, which means they got one direct Champions League group stage slot and another entering in the third qualifying round compared to Scotland's single spot entering at the first qualifying round.

Sparta Prague are currently rated 38th in the UEFA Club Coefficients compared to Celtic who are 50th.

Ahh dammit. Of course their arguably best 11 is starting but they all played Saturday so some will be feeling it. See what happens. Injury or red card for a CB should see Sainsbury come on.

PSV's two midfielders on the bench, Gutierrez and Ramselaar seem to be pretty attacking options. Could van Bommel have Sainz in mind for any DM cover? There's also no dedicated RB in reserve either, so there's a few places he could be required.

He's now at a decent club in ČR, but there would be no comparison between being at Sparta and Celtic, Celtic by a long way. I have no faith in these ranking systems because Eredivisie is noticeably better than Fortuna Liga and has more consistent quality across the field. You could have chosen 6 clubs last season deserving of the drop, and it didn't go unnoticed - they've now reformatted the league to have a relegation playoff played by the bottom 3rd of the table.

For Mebrahtu, his big challenge is getting a regular start. He's been used as lone gunman previously at Mladá Boleslav. At Sparta he's behind Tetteh who is in goal scoring form. That said, he's been in Fortuna Liga for a while (Slovacko and Bohemians) and been fairly ordinary for a number of years, so I'm confident Mebrahtu will get his chance once Tetteh's hot streak is over.

Viergever, more like foul giver. Dembele suckers him into a foul on the edge of the D for Messi and gets a yellow.
