While i rate Kennedy, he's really nothing special. I think you have to be offered spots in Europe to say yes to one, i don't see clubs knocking down the door.

Clubs may not have knocked down the door, but he's a guy who has seriously slipped under the radar in World football. An excellent goal scoring ratio, and is a major asset with both his height and his ability to work the ball at his feet to find half a yard to shoot (a seriously under rated part of his game).
Would be great for a promoted Premier League team in need of some goals, a target man and a constant threat.

He would be a great acquisition for any club. I hope he doesn't move though. The J-league suits him where he is guaranteed 90 mins every week in a very good technical league.

If he went to the premier league it might kill his career like Holman.

A brace tonight as well he is a beast. Thats 4 goals and 3 assists in 6 games. Total since he moved to the J league 128 games played for 63 goals and 40 assists. nearly averages a goal or assist every game.

What a record!

Indeed!

Yes and no - More 'no', that doesn't he wouldn't or even 'doesn't have interest from Europe! He also, unlike many, has his 'prior contacts' and his record in the J-League and with the NT, especially if he impacts at this WC, will only add to his 'value' - albeit a player already in his peak years.

THAT's the factor in play here - he's no longer the early-mid 20 something that he was circa when he featured at the 2006 WC. He's now 32 and it's well possible that the coming 2015 Asian Cup could be his NT swansong - though earlier he even mooted this WC could be! But none-the-less, that's where he's at these days, a peaked player, at or just beyond, his pinnacle and playing in a strong league with a well suited club/team.

Yeah, he's no Viduka and he never was, FTR nobody is, but he's already been a great and valuable servant for this NT and it was not his fault that under previous coaching regimes our football was varying degrees of terrible and too direct and that's been proven since with the awful play with Cahill upfront and then the dramatic changed enacted via Ange.

Like others, Kennedy could/should flourish under Ange and his system too!

Nagoya fans think of him as a deity. Would be hard to leave a club that he does well at and fans that absolutely adore him.

Especially as, again, he's turning 32 going 33 next year, aging body, hinting at NT retirement this year or early next, in comfortable and productive surrounds and surely earning a healthy paycheck! He may, hopefully, still return to the A-League for the final season of his career as a non-marquee in his mid 30s, or he could well just finish up with his current team - guess we'll see. Would be interesting to see who his 'hometown' A-League club is - given he's from Wodonga :p, though that is technically in Victoria and he was picked up by the short-lived NSL club/experiment, Carlton... so, Victory or Heart? :-k

It depends on the length and terms of his present Nagoya deal ofcourse and too the timing of his NT retirement - He 'may' seek to return circa 2015/16 season, after retiring from the NT, post Jan 2015 Asian Cup? Or retiring from the NT may be seen to 'prolong' his club career, so he may play on with Nagoya till his body has finally had enough?

But he's certainly had a productive time of it in Japan and may wish to leave on a relative high - so also leaving a little in the tank for a return to the A-League.

No kidding. I've read that when he was first trying to trial in Melbourne and Sydney after coming from Albury-Woodonga they told him to fuck off and play AFL.

And I'm told when Harry first trialled at Marconi as a 14 year old they told him he was too small and had no future in the game.

I wouldn't base my opinions on the views of one or two idiots.

Ah, so it is him. Someone I've only heard about, but never seen.

Well, if he can keep his form up (as it's obviously good, since he made TotW), then he'll get some more eyes on him.

We really need some CBs to hit form, as we're pretty thin.

Holland did an interview before the Rapid game from the weekend (they 0-1, he was suspended). He answers in English but the rest is in German, First time I see him speaking he says "It is not a religion I follow, so I can't really comment" and I was thinking what the fuck is the interviewer asking. Turns out he said something about Rapid Vienna being like a religion. The link has a video not covering all the questions in the interview but also has some not in the article.

http://sportnet.at/home/fussball/bundesliga/Austria/1586769/Terrence-Boyd-und-James-Holland-im-DerbyInterview_Das-Wiener?_vl_backlink=/home/index.do

Just posted questions/responses I found interesting.

EDIT: The fourth question and answer is the best

Quote:
Sportnet: How important is faith to you?

Terrence Boyd: Man praying already that you remain healthy and work out things.

James Holland: In football and in life generally it is very important. He plays a big role for me.

Sportnet: Some say that Rapid is a religion. Is that right, Terrence?

Boyd: Definitely. It is more than a club. The fans think after getting up only to Rapid. I think it's cool that it shapes their everyday lives so.

Holland: Rapid is not a religion, I follow. It's hard to comment for me.

Sportnet: Are the sums that are in football game, crazy?

Boyd: It's crazy, if you compare it to normal working people. My step-father is an electrician. What I spend a month on food, my family has to live for the whole month. It is sobering, what numbers are in play there. On the other hand, has a footballer just ten years to make money. So it evens out. Finally it depends on how each handles his money.

Holland: In some areas, it is a bit ridiculous. But as Terrence rightly says: We make our money in a short period of time.

Sportnet: Where to make more, at Rapid or Austria?

Boyd: I do not know. I do not know what they deserve. (Both see a pretty girl on the roadside)

Holland: Oh, baby. We still have space in here.

Boyd: cab, stop! (Both laugh)

Sportnet: What would you study?

Boyd: Sport Management or art. Although I can not paint, but I like pictures. This hidden beauty. You can see it so much, you know I think that's cool.

Holland: I'm studying psychology. I would like to continue after retirement. After a year I interrupted. I must not necessarily be a psychologist, just'm just interested in the nature of man.

Sportnet: What was your life so far the toughest test?

Boyd: When my grandfather died. That was three or four years ago. If you are for the first time a man lose, then you wake up and think to yourself: The problems that you have in football, no. It was a great loss. The important thing is that your family is healthy, because you can not buy with money. I have therefore not afraid of anything tattooed on me and Old High German on the arm: it goes on.

Holland: For me it was my time in Holland. When I got there at 19, I was all alone on a new continent. In football, it ended badly, the coach did not like me. I was inwardly broken to Vienna. Fortunately, I got the chance. In life, you always get the chance if you work hard.

Boyd: Eben. You've played this year Champions League.

Tomislav Mrcela (90min)

how good is he? would he be worth taking to the world cup?

We're really scraping the bottom of the barrel if we think some dude who plays for some lowly HNL club is good enough for the Socceroos, just by virtue of playing in Croatia.

thanks i was just curious i never seen him play, we are pretty close to the bottom of the barrel at the moment
