bring a context to the standard of league, a Aussie player is playing at , is I think worthy of this thread , otherwise, the discussion will end up talking about some aussie player , playing in some Youth Italian league as the next greatest thing You are warned because we won't allow our major threads to be derailed with off topic arguments. Everyone posting in this thread is well aware of the varying contexts of quality and prospects of each league. If you wish to create a thread about UEFA league coefficients you are welcome to do so, but this is the Aussies Abroad thread, where the exploits of Aussies abroad are reported to those that are interested. And as for "some Youth Italian league" player: Jog on. Final warning.

That's a shame, obviously Ange hasn't taken much of a shine to them either.

This is the Aussies abroad thread where we talk about Aussies abroad without prejudice. This thread is an institution. It's not anti-a-league or pro-euro snobbery. Just info.

lol Another thread derail.
Anyone got a list of players likely to see action over the weekend. Someone normally posts this, really helps with the streaming. Will report back what I see.

I've appreciated his efforts for the National Team though, I thought he looked settled whenever he played. Any role that Dario could play for the National Team under Ange is full of competition with other players. He has a few caps, but has never managed to hold a spot down. I was really hoping that he could replicate his Adelaide United form at Sion, I thought he was dominating the A league for a period and really looked like he could step into a role with the National Team.

19 year old CB, only lived here from ages 10-12 (he was already at Sunderland's academy from age 8 previous to the move), although he qualifies for citizenship and eligibility through his Australian father and he captained an Australian U13s side in a tourney in Malaysia in his time here. Has he mentioned who his allegiance is with? We rarely ever get these type of players who want to play for the socceroos. They usually want to play for England. Seems to be going our way lately, Smith, Herd, etc. The only two in that honking massive list I wrote for the U23's who seem to be a risk are Gethin Jones and Milos Degenek. Keep making World Cups and they'll keep coming, I guess. where would this said list be accessible? would love to see it.

Vidosic has 2 goals and 5 assists in the last 10 games he played before the break he is flourishing finally playing up the middle as an AM as opposed to a lot of wing last season where he had 6 goals and 5 assists from 30 odd games. Im not sure how well he would be suited to Anges 4-3-3 his best position in that formation may actually be the wing as opposed to AM. If we went 4-2-3-1 I think he would be in with a better shot as we have lots of players who can play as one of two holders but few who are out and out AM's

It's kind of a surprise hearing those stats of Dario, as his name just doesn't seem to pop up much in updates. But the fact that he is playing centrally accounts for those stats - whenever he played as an AM at Adelaide he seemed to perform at his most consistent. He dominated heaps of games for United. And I totally agree on the point of not fitting into Ange's 4-3-3. There is a decent amount of competition on the wing, which requires players who can defend fiercely also.

Odd considering they have a better strike rate than AZ
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Funny thing about him, a few years ago (2012) when OSAussies (VoiceofReason) started his OSAussies website etc, I was regularly in contact with him. One day in Moscow I saw a Spartak Moscow youth tournament (had many European clubs competing from Barcelona's youth team included). Oikonomidis was playing for Atlanta and scored against Spartak, I found out he was Australian. I informed VoiceofReason (July 2012), who got in contact with him for his website, a few months later The World Game was all over it  ;) This was the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K30NZmVQyIQEdited by electroschokk: 30/1/2015 09:25:44 PM

I mean he will be offloaded to a Serie B side for good in the next 12 months, i'm sure of it. Look at Lazio, they have 1 player on their senior list who was developed there. All the other Italian players developed at other clubs (most not even Serie A). The Serie A also has the lowest number of club trained players out of any league in Europe across the 3 tiers with just 8.4%. http://www.football-observatory.com/IMG/pdf/ds2014_abstract-2.pdfSo suffice to say the odds are stacked heavily against young Chris.

tell you what if 10% of our youth players made a contract with a top 5 league I'd be pretty happy
it seems italy is 3rd best out of the big 5 leagues in that list
Germany is better and france is the best

Gavin De Niese started and played for 55 minutes for River Plate against Tigres in the Chivas Cup, a U18's comp in Mexico featuring the USA and Mexico U18's teams and a load of clubs from the Americas including Boca Juniors, Cruzeiro, Urawa Reds and a bunch of Mexican clubs.
