I reckon we should've started him in that Korea group game. I guess with Troisi moving into midfield Ange was trying to keep his minutes ticking over as they moved into the elimination phase, but was perfect chance to give him a run as that LAM.

I think we'll see a Luongo-Jedi-Oar, Luongo-Jedi-Rogic, and time for Antonis and DDS as midfield combinations in upcoming friendlies if all of them are playing.

Can't remember if this has been reported yet but Burgess out for 6 weeks.

Quote:
What I do know is that we’ve signed Lithuanian international forward, Darvydas Šernas. He has 35 caps for Lithuania and is now Jim McIntyre’s fourth signing of the window following the signings of Cameron Burgess (who is now out injured for up to six weeks), Craig Curran and Marcus Fraser, who gave a solid debut in the defeat against Celtic last week

FFS - admits he recruited Sernas from a YouTube video and on reputation. Just needed to give Kenny Lowe or any Glory fan a call. Apart from a goal of the year contender with his second touch he did stuff all while at Glory and again he is being picked up with no match fitness mid season.

i dont think ange doesnt rate him. oar is the kind of winger that does not fit into anges system. it seems pretty obvious.

he plays best as a wide wing midfield. ange's doesnt play wide midfielders or wings. his fullbacks do that.

Behich subbed on at 61 minutes Bursaspor 2-0 game nearly over. Seems to be running well.

Fuck make that 3-0 w/ Behich getting involved in some great interplay on the left wing for a piss easy goal.
Looks to be playing left winger not the LB. Team mates letting him down a bit with some passes. (late in the game tho probably tiredness)

So we play a 433, with 3 central forwards? Yes the fullbacks do push on, but they could have fooled me but i'm pretty sure i saw Leckie and Kruse playing out fairly wide for most of the tournament... ;)

Oar is a better attacking winger than Leckie is, however doesn't have the same work rate as Leckie. However, Oar's best position is in fact central. You obviously base your opinion solely on Socceroos games.

When playing 3 in midfield, depending on the strength of the opponent and associated tactics, our midfield should be:

Attacking lineup:
Oar Luongo
Jedi

Defensive lineup:
Luongo
Milligan Jedi

Or if needed, we play him wide with Kruse is out.

Cahill/Juric
Oar Leckie

And Behic must be LB v Germany. Superior player at this stage in their careers. You also don't want an unfit player up against the world champs!

The Copa Chivas is an U18's comp, including the US and Mexican U17 and U18 teams respectively, but he's been having time with the senior reserves lately.

While I agree to a certain extent with you the main quame I have with the above is that Australia play better with 1 holding midfielder - Jedinak. Milligan has shown he is Mr.Versitility through the AC playing LAM/RAM, CDM and RB. I would never play a socceroos line up with 2 central defenders, no matter the opposition. Especially with Luongo and Milligan they both track back very well for attacking roles.

no. i base my current opinion of oar based on watching pretty much every game he has played at utrecht for the last 2 years and having seen every minute of his NT time as well. i also take into consideration how the dutch media analysts and his coach consistently talk about his game.

he is better as a wide wing. holding the wide line, beating his man, taking angled passed from the midfield, sending in crosses and angling balls back. however, he is also good at initiating play when he gets the ball deeper and can cut into the middle. this is why he has been given such a run in the midfield. but when that is where he is stuck for the full game, he just doesnt seem as consistently potent. he needs the flexibility that playing on the wing gives him.

he sets up goals. i havent seen him take a lot of shots on goal. it was pretty clear from the selection that ange wanted a front line that took shots. troisi, burns, leckie, kruse and cahill take shots and score goals from narrow on the pitch. just like at brisbane roar, and just like he was trying to achieve at melbourne roar.

maybe you should watch some more eriedivisie. its a good league. i recommend it.

You can play Oar as second No.10 or 8 in a 4-3-3 on the left, didn't know why Ange didn't play him at the Asian Cup. Wouldn't be a reason why he couldn't be effective in that role. McKay play quite safely but doesnt offer the creativity whilst Troisi was largely in-effective against Kuwait.

Although baring the different level in quality Angel Di Maria at Real Madrid played the same role, and he was one of the main reasons why Real Madrid won the UCL.

Lets hope the move to Ajax eventuates.

I think he can at similar to Navas for city, out wide very quick and get those crosses in. With a potent striker would be interesting to see.

well, again i thought Behich played ok... but Davidson stats at Asian cup. played 390 minutes, score one goal, had one goal assists, and let one goal past as a team defender, and 2 yellow cards ...some of those stats must be contributed to Davidson playing well. because they are very good stats

Bahh tried one his usual long distance hit the bar on an angle type shots. Near the bar hit the keepers gloves and rebounded to an Ingolstadt player.

Seem likely to get a goal here, interplay up front improves considerably with him roaming around very nearly got a second. Keeper somehow blocked it

Leckie with a nice header for himself to chase and runs 30m before shooting from 25m for the keeper to slap it away. Good shot.

Pretty characteristic. I was thinking MAN Leckie you need to improve that shot so its going in.. did it at the Asian Cup a few times.

He shot quite early for me. He had the fresh legs and could have taken on the defender.

Seems he has been taking this shot a lot recently, maybe he should just get back to beating em with that lightning pace. He obviously has confidence in the shot., but yeah.

Holy crap, that's 10 points clear on top of Bundesliga 2.

They could be sitting mid table in Bundi 1 at this rate. Impressive team, coach looks absolutely wrapped about that win :D
