grazorblade wrote:How did herd play Don't have anything on how he played specifically but he played fullback with Bennett the other fullback. Bennett is a left-back to Herd was on the right, no surprise really. While he was on the field they also kept a clean sheet but they were facing a 4th division team so I don't think you could really read into their performance anyway.

Irvine has joined the Celtic team in Berlin after I am guessing an extended break because of the U20 World Cup

Matt Ryan played a full match in a 2-1 win.
Babalj got another 30 minutes inn AZ's 1-7 win vs Selection CSV Apeldoorn. There were no goals in the second half at all. Aron Jóhannsson is the player he has replaced the last 2 games a 22 year old AZ signed last season so it could be tough for Babalj to get in over him but he should still get decent game-time I imagine.
FC Utrecht will play FC Differdange 03 in the Europa league 2nd qualifying round. This is one of the easier ties they could have got as FC Differdange 03 came 4th in the Luxenburg league getting the last place of one of the lowest ranked leagues in the comp.

moofa wrote:Irvine has joined the Celtic team in Berlin after I am guessing an extended break because of the U20 World Cup That's good news? With Victor Wanyama recently departed, HOPEFULLY that provides an opportunity for Irvine (Who plays same possie)?! Granted, Rogic was being tried deeper - but hopefully Rogic is tried a bit further up too - Especially if another more advanced midfielder moves on from Celtic? Edit: I guess Brown, Kayal, Commons and/or Ledley aren't going anywhere? Ledley COULD be a candidate to 'move back' to now EPL side Cardiff City at the end of this coming season, when his contract expires - provided he don't negotiate an extension in the mean time. Hopefully Cardiff stay up this EPL season and bring through some more Welsh talent for once. Edited by GloryPerth: 12/7/2013 09:37:36 PM

Irvine and Rogic starting against Union Berlin Ryan starting against Barnsley. Looks like he's making his mark at Brugge (for now).
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Ryan starting against Barnsley. Looks like he's making his mark at Brugge (for now). all 3 got full games here. Celtic did lose 3-0 to a 2.bundesliga team though. Brugge drew 1-1 with Barnsley. Herd played the second half in their game, they kept a clean sheet in his half.

Peroused the talkceltic forums a bit this morning - by all accounts celtic defence is rubbish but there was consistent praise for Tom and Jackson - rogic on particular was best on ground for the hoops this morning. Even though he played deeper again.

How did the Celtic guys go? Had a quick browse of some Celtic forums and saw a fair bit of 'great work Rogic' 'Rogic our best so far' etc amongst all the anger at their performance. Irvine at CB wasn't he? Good that Rogic, Ryan and Irvine all got a full 90 though, and nice that Herd's getting a few minutes, even if they were just friendlies

Hopefully a big year to come before World Cup. Especially if our other fringe players can kick on a bit too

Not sure about the quality of the website but I found the following excerpts from www.scotsman.comA 3-0 defeat by German second division side Union Berlin will not go down well with their supporters, but there were at least some encouraging signs that their heroes are becoming more match sharp by the game. Add in the fine displays by youngsters Jackson Irvine, Tom Rogic and Mikey Miller and manager Neil Lennon will not have been too disappointed with the night’s work. and At the back, Irvine and Wilson formed a solid partnership, the 20-year-old Australian looking very composed on the ball, as did the other Aussie in the team, midfielder Tom Rogic.

I managed to watch most of the Brugge match. They utterly dominated in the first half but couldn't really capitalise on anything. Ryan was constantly receiving passes, distribution overall was very good. I'm no goalkeeping expert but I'd say he could've had better positioning for Barnsley's goal, admittedly it slotted in the top left corner but he didn't get a finger to it. Shot-stopping in general still seems like a weak point so I'm not sure about him being first choice. I guess his manager will have to decide whether he wants the experience of Kujovic or the tidy feet of Ryan.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Faced a few. Good block at 2:10 http://blue-army.com/nieuws/2013/07/matchverslag-oefenwedstrijd-barnsley-fc-club-bruggeOar and Zullo currently playing in a friendly. Kruse on bench for Leverkusen.

If anyone reads this pretend I wrote a bit more because I did but my PC decided to fuck me and restart before I posted it. From what I can remember:
Babalj got a hattrick but was still likely a 60th minute sub. Kruse came on for Son in 2nd half, Son Scored Zullo played a half, Oar played a little more Dylan McGowan played a full hame and got 'top player'which I think is MOTM Langerak played a half and got a clean sheet
Also the Swiss league is starting this week and Bozanic's team is playing tonight 9:45 start

Surprised Alexander Wilkinson hasnt been considered for the Roo's yet, seems to be the most successful in Korea ATM. Surely hes close to stealing C'thwaites Roos squad spot.

Wilkinson is the new Ognenovski?
The other Aussies in Korea might as well come back to the A-League, if they want game time.

Kruse is the only one with a chance really and he has Sam and Son over him atm

Wilkshire just played a 90 mins in the season opener. Oli Bozanic starting for Luzern in 15 minutes.
