Pala thats huge. Smith, Ikon, Rogic, Sainsbury, Jedinak, de Silva, Juric, Griffiths, Bulut even Antonis playing in top tiers. Not to mention the abundance of players playing in second tiers that could step up. Begs the question could we see less Aussies from the ALeague in the nt set up?

beastilyone wrote:rusty wrote:Of those who watched Ikon and Smith how do you rate them? Do they look like top four league quality? Smith definitely had a great game, was definitely a (the?) standout player, in what was a pretty tame liverpool side. From what I saw he would definitely fit with the NT's style, was super advanced on the field it felt as though he was playing as a winger at times and made some decent crosses a couple of which should have been converted. One was at the 4' or 5' minute, that was an open goal..but the liverpool player couldn't finish. He also made some good defensive contributions, however he wasn't tested to fullest extent. Only negative point is late in the 1st half he got a little wound up making 3 successive tackles/fouls after the 1st should have went his way and was lucky not to get a yellow. He should definitely get more minutes in Europa/EPL! Ikon was good, made a few chances and had about 2-3 opportunities to score 1 of which was a cross that went across the face of the goal. I don't think he read it completely though. He rotated/covered very nicely, mostly at LM and saw him twice at CF. He also came back to help defensively a lot and seemed to enjoy running at players to create pressure/get back possession. Only negative I saw was he could have been involved a little more at certain points, as his teammates could have passed to him at certain points, but chose not to. This happened less in the 2nd half, but was still very much open on certain occasions and wasn't passed to. He should get some minutes off the bench now that he's had a start and didn't do much wrong, but considering he's quite low in the pecking order at LW he should still seek a loan, it would benefit him greatly! Begs the question could we see less Aussies from the ALeague in the nt set up? It depends on how many can step up in the next few years, and if they make the right club choices in the future too. Too many make the wrong choices whether it be from their first entry level from the a-league to the guys in Europe who want to make the next step i.e Oar, Davidson

Begs the question could we see less Aussies from the ALeague in the nt set up? Unsure about Griffiths, just because he's getting a lot of time at Roda in the Eredivisie, doesn't mean he should play for the NT. Roda aren't that good of a team, currently they're struggling against weaker sides losing 3-0 against Heerenveen and have recently been smacked 5-0 by Zwolle (sainsbury side) and 6-0 by Ajax. Obviously this isn't just Griffiths fault, just trying raising the question as to why he is being called for a NT cap? What does he provide that Jedinak, Milligan or even the young Amini don't? Edited by beastilyone: 11/12/2015 06:40:07 PM I completely agree. He was never that great in the A-League and now that he is playing in Europe he is somehow NT worthy. He hasn't all of a sudden become a better player

Sarota must be in a Jonathan Bru type situation. Played in a reserve friendly a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully he can find another club over there. http://www.utrechtfans.nl/nieuws/2291/-op-die-manier-probeerde-ik-de-wedstrijd-een-extra-dimensie-te-geven-.html
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

"He is really good, and feels better than last season. We are all really pleased." About the only thing mentioned about his injury recovery. fingers crossed, cos I love football, no really. As I'm sure everyone here does. In fact I love football just as much as I love myself

Behich starting and they're getting murdered down 3:0 after 30mins.
Degenek playing the Jedinak role with Halloran starting on the wing.

Great goal by Halloran after 6mins. Edge of the box ground shot hits far post and in. Easy.

Kruse on the bench but easily the most experienced and genuine attacking option. Mainz are on fire so a lead should see Robbie come on.

Kruse shoots but totally off balance. He needed a warm up shot at least.

Thrilled about Smith and the Ikon, by the way.
Let's see how they go.
Smith and Gerbach are our best options at left-back. Both good enough to play left wing, also. Means we have the option of putting one at left-back and one on the the wing (where we already have good options with the likes of Tommy Oar).
Just need a right-back, need somebody to read Milligan the riot act and force him to go to Europe and need a striker with actual pace and 1 vs 1 ability (I say convert Derrick from left-wing to striker) and we have a far stronger NT.

Kruse went looking for the ball but there's little chemistry in his team. 0:0.
Behich got a 4:0 thrashing.

A prescious away point for Stuttgart.
Since kruse has returned they're now picking up points. Hopefully he'll get a few starts now.
