I'm trawling twitter for Mooy and it sounds like he's playing really well. Huddersfield are one up at the break. Not sure but I don't think Mooy was involved in the goal.

Seems to play as the fulcrum, playing a bit to deep to get actual assists

newcastle pull one back with a handball from the Uddersfield cb - penalty. It was saved but the rebound went to the penalty taker.

Does anyone know if Brad Smith is going to start for Bournemouth tonight? Remember reading something a few days ago that he was the favourite to start.

Is Mooy playing himself out of the Socceroos attacking midfield position? Doesn't look he's even considered as a number 10 anymore at Huddersfield, which is crazy.

He was never a #10 player - he only played that position at City because they had nobody else.

its tempting to play him as a deep play maker because he is a really good defender. He has made 11 tackles and 5 intercepts over 2 games which would be amongst the best the league for that position. So coaches can take a while to realize how phenomonal he is at 10

Of course he's a number 10. He was the best player in the league by a country mile there, and would be in the championship too. The amount of shot assists and goals he creates from there is phenomenal. Granted, he isn't traditionally what you expect there, he's the thinking mans number 10.

he left wsw because they would only play him deeper.  he joined mcfc because they offered him the shot at 10.

yeah he plays with a lot of intelligence but he doesn't razzle dazzle in his take ons so it is natural for coaches to underestimate him I think

Exactly. He can't beat a player and slip a pass through like Rogic can, or wack a 30 meter shot, but if the pass is there Mooy is the one with the vision to actually see it and the composure and skill to make it even under huge pressure. Better than just about anyone.

Huddersfield love his passing and composure on the ball in the deep areas. But thats pretty much child's play for Mooy, he can operate in the same way in the attacking third and pick out forward passes just as well.

His "problem" I think is that, like you say he is a really competent - but by no mean outstanding - defender. (Unlike Rogic for example who is lucky that he could never be thought of as a defensive player). So he's really good as a holding midfielder, probably better than anything huddersfield have ever had, but he's never going to contribute as much or light the world on fire as much as he would as AM.

Combine this with Rogic looking set to destroy to SPL this season and it looks like Rogic as AM for the NT.

Playing as a deep playmaker offers so much more and will be better for his career. Every team in the world loves a payer that fits those qualities. I hope mooy keeps doing well there, if he does over the next 12 months a good club will come for him.

Very early on but at this rate he may be able to stay with Hudders into next season

mooys pressing and defensive qualities might help him get a look in at man city, Pep loves players like him. Can only see it happening if there's major injury issues at city,

But i dont think its unrealistic, imagine if he had even btter players around him
