AFC PNE still 2:2 on 105min. Maybe going to penalties with Federici in goal.

have +xMaty is about to have his 5th Valencia manager in 12 months. Far out. Stuttgart have signed a 35 year old manager. Ex Dortmund under 19 coach. He knows Langerak. Maty has seen so much downfall at Valencia. The club is in a real hole. His injury aside, it looked like an exciting season for him.

PNE go up 3:2. Would much prefer Bournemouth winning as this is smith's only real match time chance atm.

+xAmini needs a transfer to the Championship to secure a CM spot for the Roos. My own opinion is that i think amini just doesnt suit what ange wants to do for whatever reason that may be. I suspect its a lot to do with his ball handling speed and speed over the ground. The other argument against amini is that we are currently well served in his best position at number ten with Rogic, Mooy, Luongo all ahead of him for that role

+x+x+xSmith, Federici and Wright all starting in the same game. Is that a record for Aussies abroad in Europe? H and Dukes started regularly for Leeds at the same time. They would have both started against a fellow Aussie at some point. Maybe even against two Aussies? Dukes and Schwarzer were both at Middlesbough at the same time. Again, they would surely have both started in a match against another Aussie. Also, Jamie McMaster (Aussie but played international youth football for England) was at Elland Road at the same time as the other two. He wasn't capped many times, but it seems plausible he may have started a match with the other two. and jacob burns

+xTop punch by Langerak then a point blank parry from a box scramble. Geez we've got good keepers. If Ryan isn't 100% then Langerak has the shot stopping ability. i agree with that. seriously though, the level of passing required from goalkeepers is not extraordinary even under guardiola. this can be managed/instructed (unless you are a smug prick like joe hart that isnt half as good as he thinks). plus i think langerak can actually pass well he has just been rusty from lack of regular game time.

There was a time when Leeds had Harry, Dukes, Okon, Burns and McMaster all on the field at the same time in an EPL match, with Milosevic and possibly even Cansdell Sheriff on the bench. Don't think that will ever get beaten in a single team in a top flight league.

Any rumours as to who will take over at Valencia? Would love Bielsa or Villas-Boas to take over, I think they would value Ryan as well, but I doubt they will go in for a big name like that (and maybe the big names wouldn't go in for Valencia right now) - Guessing they will appoint a manager with La Liga experience or put the interim manager on permanently..

Sturm Graz play away to Bad Wimsbach in the cup. Hope for Jeggo to get a light run prior to taking on the world.

absolute tragedy for smith (and feds) to get knocked out of the cup. great for smith to get minutes but there goes his chances for the immediate future. ffs. he should have stayed at liverpool. he would have been getting premier league minutes and cup games.

I wouldn't read too much into the Arsenal thing. Every young player in Europe is linked to Arsenal then they usually sign one with a smaller reputation. Also, isn't Panos already locked in for Australia since he played for Greece then switched to us? Or did that happen before the new rules were put in place?

Nah as I understand he's free to switch any time until his first competitive senior cap as he was eligible for all his countries from birth, before playing for anyone else. At least Australia, Greece, the US (where he was born) and maybe one or two more depending where his parents and grandparents are from. He'd hold all three passports too, Straya, EU and US, something I'm jealous of, one more than me!

If you have US citizenship and you've ever worked in the US (admittedly Panos probably hasn't worked there), you're obliged to pay income tax to the IRS even if you don't live in the States and (obviously) pay income tax to the country in which you live (e.g. Australia). At least I've heard tell of that. We've a family friend who renounced his US citizenship in order not to be taxed twice. Plus, is it that difficult to move to the US? I'm getting the notion that, if you've got any kind of reasonable qualifications, it's quite feasible? It's more meritocratic than the Europe but less egalitarian. Ironically.

That was the old rules, but my understanding is that in the last few years they implemented a rule where if you've played for one country, even at youth level, you have to apply to switch to another nation. Once you've done that, there's no switching. That's what happened with Brad Smith.

I'd like to see PA in a few more competitive games before getting over excited Some of the opposition in the primavera is barely NPL standard imo Didn't set world on fire whilst playing in u17s WC But he was coming back from injury and now does look pretty fit . Lots of pressure from a young age , mr Sbs been spruiking since u8s lol

I remember when Amini was 17 and playing here. He looked like he had the world at his feet.
Sliding doors I know, but Do in retrospect, you think he would of been better off to play two more seasons in oz?

Lots of pressure from a young age , mr Sbs been spruiking since u8s lol Strikes me as as having the potential to be a Rogic type. Crafty playmaker with lovely one-on-one skills. But from what I noticed in the U17 WC, not much acceleration. It's a bit of a pity because that combination of 1 v 1 ability, high football IQ and acceleration is what makes the world class ones stand out in attacking midfield positions. And that's what we're missing (although Derrick and Arzani have acceleration and 1 vs 1 ability). Still, Panos can still be immense even without those quicker gear shifts.

Is Wellington diverse? Dont know, however this is a club that has no historical or existing link to a specific migrant group - Rusty Einstein
The negative stereotypes are perpetuated by people who either have no idea or are serving a vested interest; neither viewpoint should get anywhere near running Australian football - Ange Postecoglou
