Channel 10 having rights would be a disaster. Cue commercial breaks at critical moments. I remember when 7 had rights to some NSL & Socceroo matches and same thing happened.

There are two problems with SBS having the A-league rights and they are David Zdrilic and Zeljko Kalac, they will simply bore new fans into leaving.

And

There has been a delay in the FFA doing a deal with Foxsports who are fully committed to Football, and SBS who are also fully committed and thinking a deal is as good as done.

So

Is the delay in the announcement and signature of the deal related to this decision

and are Channel Ten set to swoop in on the deal late???

Maybe a three way deal Foxsports, SBS and Channel Ten. Or does SBS miss out again?

Or not....

Well some sort of deal has to be already made SBS is showing alot more a-league on the TWG now and had a socceroos match not long ago and if they have the iraq match too on delay you would think 100 percent they are part of the deal in some form.

It wouldn't surprise me if in a few years time once Fox Sports current licensing arrangements with Foxtel end that News starts looking at ways to spread their content out over IPTV, the current numbers are around 5% penetration for IPTV, they will want more before they make a large play over to IPTV. If the NBN manages to survive and pushes that penetration level up News will be in a prime position with the most valuable media assets, sports. They also have the Fox international channels to help supplement the sports assets and are really the only ones with content and brand awareness at the moment, the major problem with Foxtel making the jump over to IPTV is the potential ACCC concerns about Telstra having such a large stake in Foxtel and their ability to impact competition in other area's.
