so last night at 6aside i executed 6 nutmegs/pannas - one of my better hauls for such a short game. 2 of them were clean, 4 hit the oppositions legs. 1 of the clean ones was a pass to a teammate, the rest i personally held the ball after passing the ball through their legs.
having the disease of needing to go for nuts very regularly, i am of the belief that a panna/nutmegs isn't legit unless claimed, so every time i execute one i say "nuts" or "panna" or whistle - most of the time i do this before i even attempt/execute the nuts, which leaves the opposition even more embarrassed.
anyway, one particular bloke on the opposition team i had gotten 3 times last night, none of which were clean. i had claimed every single one of them. when the play had broken down after the third one, he screams at me "you know it's not a nutmegs if it's not clean". i level-headedly disagreed, saying that if the ball goes through the legs of the opposition & my team keeps possession, it's claimable - and that there exists a "clean" and "not-clean" version of the skill. he went off his rocket, told me i was wrong etc. one of the more heated verbals i've experienced on-field tbh. one of his teammates said "why the fxxx are you arguing about nutmegs?!" to which i replied "he's just jealous because i'm better than him at it". it all ended there.
but this got me wondering, what is your view - is a panna still a panna if not clean?
to me, there is a clean version & a non-clean version, and they are all claimable if your team keeps possession on the other side of the legs. what is your view?
