This forum is a joke.

Have one thread on a topic, good discussion, then comes along a FTT article and then there is two threads on the same topic. Same questions on both threads, same answers needing to be given. It is ridiculous that articles create new threads on the forum, makes absolutely no sense. I am not sure I want to post on such a incompetently designed forum like this, might never be back.

I am not having a go at you as a moderator, I am sure you have no say in the design of the site. As far as I have seen the moderation here has been good. However the design of the site is a joke.

A very handy feature for a forum which was designed for readers of the website. Read something you like? Want to get in on the conversation? Hey look, a forum connected to that article... How inconvenient. :)

It is totally imcompetent. If the forum was decent then what should happen is if an article is added to the site and there is already a thread on the topic it should link the article to the existing thread.
So this morning when the article was written about the squad announcement it should have been linked to the existing thread.

I agree with 'Reds are Best' in the fact that it can get a little annoying having two threads on one topic, but on a forum of this nature, I'm not sure how it can be had his way. I'm also not a fan of the way he is carrying on.

'Reds are Best', FFT is not a forum. It's a magazine/website that provides forum services. Of course they are going to post articles that will be accessible to post on in the forums, so this will obviously conjoin with similar articles from different sites that users have posted beforehand.

There is nothing you can do about it and even though I agree it can be a little annoying, it's really not THAT big of a deal lol.

And now you want some magical code to somehow merge with a user created thread if the content of the thread is the same as an article that is generated by a script.

You do realise that this website/forum launched in early 2007 right? The forum's backend hasn't really been changed since. That is a lifetime and few generations in internet timelines.

But unless you're willing to pay Haymarket to get the forums upgraded, you either live with it, or don't bother visiting the forums. You can always just read the articles from the main website and the comments associated with them. For years people didn't even know the forums existed and believed the articles and comments were the only aspect of this site.

Yes, I agree Doug. I do not understand how I am still able to post after I abused the forum, its owners, it moderators and various users and also had two accounts.
