Best app I've ever got has been AppsGoneFree. Basically gives you a list everyday of a bunch of apps that are free for a certain time whether it be a weekend or just one day.

Just go top charts and download games/apps that appeal to you :) ...There are heaps of knock-off games that are free versions of paid games like FIFA 13, Football Manager, NBA 2k13 etc. that are just as good for what you pay for (nothing) :P

i've been enjoying "plague inc" recently.
a friend of mine and his future father-in-law created an app called "crazy butcher" - it's basically just a knock-off of "fruit ninja" but i play it every now and then just because i know who made it.
i always really enjoy playing "madden" on my iphone.
"move the box" is not a bad little puzzle game.
"where's my water" and "angry birds" are good for a decent play until you've beaten all the levels.
