He has received a couple of offers from China and Korea. Also I have been hearing that he has been talking to some of Aussies in the K-League. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20849001

Seems he is again being chased by Rangers. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rangers-ace-david-templeton-urges-1505407Must stay in Europe and if not remain at Hearts, seek a move to the English Premier League or Championship.

from the story re why he didn't sign for thr gres in August Quote: “It was maybe because he was in the Aussie squad and felt going to the Third Division might affect that. I think it was the main reason and that he felt a bit rushed by it.”
It is good to hear that he is so committed to earning his roos spot!!!! what a champ!

It is probably a better move for him going to Korea rather than staying in Scotland. Hopefully he doesn't end up in China though.

Actually I think he might be good enough to hold a spot in a club in the bottom half of the EPL. In particular a club that likes to play 3 at the back such as Aston Villa. He is far better equipped for that system than Herd. The drawback is the lack of experience in the Villa defence (and side) to help him which has also hurt Herd, imo.

McGowan's chances of staying with the Hearts is very low. The club seems to be a very bad financial problem. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20859753

Idiotic. Can kiss his chances of being a starter at the 2014 World Cup good bye. Now even a place in the squad is in jeopardy. Luke Wilkshire just celebrated a bit.

McGowan to Rangers? MCGOWAN OPENS TALKS WITH GERS Rangers boss Ally McCoist Rangers boss Ally McCoist Tuesday January 1,2013 By Scott Burns Comment Speech Bubble Have your say(0) RANGERS have launched a bid to land Hearts star Ryan McGowan on a pre-contract. The Light Blues, who are also keen to tie up a deal for Kilmarnock keeper Cammy Bell, have opened talks with McGowan’s representatives. Manager Ally McCoist tried to land the defender in August but the deal fell apart on transfer deadline day when the Australian decided to stay at Tynecastle. However, the versatile Jambo is now willing to drop into the lower leagues to make the move. The 23-year-old, who has turned down a new contract at Hearts, initially claimed playing in the bottom division would damage his international ambitions but he has since been told he could still remain part of the Socceroos set-up if he joined Rangers.McCoist has urged chief executive Charles Green to get a pre-contract tied up as he knows cash-strapped Hearts will try to bring some money in for him in this transfer window. ì McCoist has urged chief executive Charles Green to get a pre-contract tied up as he knows cash-strapped Hearts will try to bring some money in for him in this transfer window î An un-named Chinese club have agreed a fee with Hearts for McGowan, but it is unlikely the defender would want to continue his career in the Far East. Championship clubs Sheffield Wednesday and Wolves are also interested, but Rangers have the added lure of already having his ex-Tynecastle colleagues Ian Black, David Templeton and Lee Wallace.Rangers could sign McGowan and field him as a trialist before officially registering him on September 1 when their year-long transfer embargo is lifted. McCoist, who will have additional wages to strengthen his squad, is also set to open pre-contract talks with Bell, who has been another long-term target of the Rangers manager. The 26-year-old Scotland squad keeper will come in to challenge Neil Alexander, although the current No 1 has still to sign an Ibrox contract extension beyond the summer. If he lands McGowan and Bell, McCoist he will make a top-quality centre-half and centre-forward his priorities. http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/368027From 3rd tier Scotland to World Cup finals, assuming we make it? Has Holger really said this? Edited by dr. bellows: 2/1/2013 02:45:44 AM

Quote:Australia defender Ryan McGowan may have played his last game for financially-crippled Hearts with a move to a leading Chinese Super League club close to being sealed. Exit... Hearts' In-demand Australian defender Ryan McGowan is weighing up a move to the Chinese Super League. (Getty) McGowan will travel to China on Friday with his Australian-based agent Lou Sticca to meet officials at a top CSL side with the permission of Hearts, which has agreed a transfer fee. Adelaide-raised McGowan, who has two Socceroos caps having made his debut against Scotland in August 2012, is understood to be reluctant to leave the club he joined as a 17 year-old. But Hearts is desperate to cash in on the full-back who has also been attracting strong interest from a number of English Championship clubs and is out of contract in June. “Ryan will be on his way to China to talk to a leading club there within 48 hours with the full permission of Hearts," Sticca said. “A transfer fee has been agreed in principle and it’s a matter of Ryan having a look around and considering personal terms.” It is understood that the deal on offer to McGowan is a lucrative one in a competition which is already home to Australians Daniel Mullen, Milan Susak, Rostyn Griffiths and Dino Djulbic, plus well-remunerated stars like Nikolas Anelka and Didier Drogba. McGowan, who rejected a move to Rangers last August, has repeatedly stated his desire to stay with Hearts – at least in the medium term. But he is fully aware that the transfer fee will help ease Hearts’ financial woes while younger brother Dylan, also a defender, could benefit by being promoted to the first team on more regular basis in his likely absence. “There has been interest from a number of clubs but the offer from China is the one Ryan is looking at most closely,” Sticca said. Though Hearts has agreed settlements over hefty tax bills, the club is still facing a shortfall with a recent share issue falling adrift of the targeted level of fundraising. Coach John McGynn admitted last week: “Players like Ryan McGowan will attract attention. “They're out of contract in the northern summer and the football club is not in a position to knock back good offers if they come in.” http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/news/1135092/McGowan-bound-for-ChinaEdited by StiflersMom: 2/1/2013 07:07:57 PM

poor guy, sounds like he is getting backed into a corner re china, Gers is also a bad option while they are back in 3rd div.
I don 't think it would hurt him the stall as long as possible , with all the interest and media around he could start a bidding war and get a better positioned club interested.. maybe leaking so many stories is also a tactiic from Heart to try and get a better price..

If Hearts are as cash-strapped as they say, he'll have to leave - he seems loyal and it would be in the club's best interests. Holding out for some of this Championship interest to come to fruition would be the way to go if he wants to play in Brazil.

http://www.news.com.au/sport/football/socceroo-ryan-mcgowan-set-for-move-from-hearts-to-china/story-fndkzvnd-1226546857502Well the Manager himself says he didn't want to go (if this goes through). It sounds like the offer to hearts was like 700 odd, I can't remember exactly. He's only got 6 months left there and they decided to cash in since they need money.
