This week in the game against Heart , Archie used this dribbling technique quite a lot. he was pretty successful at beating players too. It is as though he has worked a lot on the training track with it in the last few weeks.

Archie used to use Brazilian step overs and reverse step overs a lot a few years ago. Lately he seems to have changed his dribbling modus operandi to shoulder feints and la croquetas, interspersed with the standard cuts.

Archie approaches the next defender... but then stops and thinks. "Shall I use a Brazilian step over...? Or perhaps that ultimate in esoteric trickery, the la crocqueta? Decisions, decisions...":?

Archie may have had feedback, self-evaluation or stats to verify that he hasn't been as successful in beating players one on one with step overs at this stage of his career compared to 5 years ago.

In training, he may have been working a lot harder on his La Croquetas to beat players with similar success to what he had in the past with different techniques.

He has, and still uses shoulder feints and standard cuts.

I've thought he is taking players on less now than what he did 5 years ago.

Or, there's that split second moment when he stops and thinks "what would Iniesta use".

Always a good larf when dopes apply silly names to old techniques.

Listen mate, not sure if you play soccer, but instruction of specific skills is useful when a player runs with the ball. If a player can run with the ball with good control and can change pace, if you add specific individual skills, a player gets a few more tools for the kit bag. Nothing wrong with this.
