FFT is building an artificial pitch at state headquarters.
Tas hockey operates about 4-5 and has most teams play on those pitches over a weekend at the Tas Hockey Centre. This saves a lot of money hiring out council grounds.
Now FFT has one, they should be able to have about 20 games per weekend with no detriment to the surface. Games need never be cancelled due to ground closure. It should also save some money. More teams will be able to train there too.
I'm not sure how much it costs to build one of these grounds? In this case it is replacing a pre-existing grass pitch.
The new state league, the Victory League, will have access to a better quality playing surface for more teams.
