A little of both I reckon . But having the mainstream media serviced by Andrew.bolt ,Miranda devines et al makes it hard .that's why u get douches like polemides,lukrrobinho and the like sounding like a broken record

I find it a bit rich that a guy who consistently attacks people with religious beliefs is complaining about the bigotry of other people.

There does seem to be more posters here specifically to push racist and/or political views.

Probably a direct correlation to the number of users actually ON the forum.

There have been a bunch of racists on here in the past, but they've been weeeded out faster previously.

People that accuse me of attacking people with religious beliefs either don't understand the conversation, or are throwing up strawmen for other reasons. It's not hard to figure out where you lie.

"Attacks" are always levelled at ideas, not individuals for the sake of attack. If you can prove otherwise, feel free.

I don't see anyone like Socceroos Supporter's Xenophobia being levelled at a specific user in particular, however, you HAVE singled out users like General, Fredsta and Zimbos for their religious beliefs.

I'm sure you're strengthening your argument suggesting that any user (and there's a long list) who disagrees with you and dislikes you is signing up for an "afro fellatio session". Really hard to refute the point.

I think you'll find that I have a lot of personal respect for both Ashnak and Zimbos (I also continue to work with both extensively on OTP) , I don't know fredsta all that well but I don't have anything off the top of my head that I dislike about him worth attacking.

And as I already said, if you want to have this out elsewhere - start a different thread for it. This thread is to discuss the racism and xenophobia that is becoming more prevalent on 442.

Maybe a discussion on Islamophobia is also warranted as TrueAnglo alludes.

It's only become 'more prevalent' because you propagated it. The powers that be didn't ban you for your bigotry, so they can't really ban these other users for theirs.

as a christian I know that we get mocked and ripped every day. Not that its the end of the world really its a small inconvenience compared to how wonderful it is to be a Christian so you learn to have a thick skin. Even still I appreciate those who stand up for us - its very kind (although it is probably harder for a muslim)

as someone who has been a foreigner in another country I know how disoreintating that can be and even the occasional stray rude comment can really get to you because you are so far from friends and family. Again its a small inconvenience really compared to how wonderful it is to have an adventure in another country. Again even still I appreciate all those who stand up against racism (not that I've actually experienced racism but its the same logic, treat someone different coz they are from somewhere else)

so its not either or really is it? just don't be a jerk to anyone and if you go out of your way to be kind to anyone from any of the above categories your a legend

If people want to have a serious discussion about Islam, multiculturalism or asylum seekers and a thread like the Touchy Subjects was created to keep it all in one place, I'd probably be okay with that.

However, if all these people are going to do is spam articles that support their opinions and then straw man the other side's opinions, then I think we have a problem.

How did that happen, i have a few muslim freinds who have had trouble with that because muslim women arnt allowed to marry non muslim men?

My hindhi mate's girlfriend dumped him three times because she was muslim and her brother and father pressured her to.

See this is were people get so worked up . She is Muslim but isnt the stereotypical Brown person people automatically assume she is . For one she is Bosnian , who are Slavic people.sadly people think Arabic people can only be Muslim

The word Racist is horrifically overused these days.

People tend to define racism as anything spoken by someone of European/Anglo descent which is critical of a minority in any way.

There's also the other side of the coin with the whole "It's not racism if it's true" school of thought.

They wanted her to dump him originally so she did, but then got back with him and told them to fuck off. This lasted about three months and apparently things weren't going as well, plus her father (apparently, according to my mate, not sure if this is true) threatened to disown her. They had another spell but then she realised she couldn't be with someone her parents weren't ok with. And yeah.

I don't understand kids these days at all.

If I said that a man had dark skin, that could be classified as racism, however just because I'm highlighting it as a discernible feature doesn't mean that I'm discriminating against him for it.

That's not racism, that's just stating a fact. It becomes racism when that difference becomes a justification to assert that he is somehow less capable or important than someone with a different skin colour.

Action on that assertion is largely irrelevant.

It mentions nothing of discrimination.

This was the agreed definition as per earlier in the thread.

More desirable character traits doesn't mean discrimination. Not wanting your child to be a ginger isn't discrimination, that's just unfortunate.
