Coe's a decent enough shot stopper, isn't he? Why would MV go for another keeper whose distribution is subpar?

because he is a better keeper then coe.

If you had a striker say Yau and then you had the chance at signing griffits would you say no thanks Yau is decent enough ?

Most footballers want to play first team football.. Something Jones hasn't had for 3 years

i still think he has a lot to offer in europe. id like him to try give germany or belgium a go before coming back here, plus they have coe who is a good GK.

The point though is Jones' superior quality isn't going to matter much when all he has to work with is someone like Leijer. If Melbourne are going to fork out then it will be for another Finkler, not a keeper who may be better at sweeping or dealing with crosses (and whose contract at Liverpool ends in 2016).

:lol: :lol: seriously ? jones is twice the keeper coe is why do you think he is on the Liverpool books and back up to reina ? a championship and premier league keeper you would pass up on ?

So a standout keeper who keeps team out of games like galekovic does not compare to a finkler ? keepers can have just as much impact on a game as a striker or midfielder if you choose to have a average keeper then you will let more goals in as you can see at other a-league teams.

As odd as it sounds to most fans, you'd be surprised how many don't really care that much.

Jones twice the keeper ? Why ? Because he is on there books?that's laughable . Hell I rather take a constituent keeper in Eugene over Jones . He is a 2nd choice keeper who sholdve stayed at bourgh.

Surely I'm not the only one who doesn't rate Jones. Whenever he gets a game he makes a mistake.

That's Langerak's job these days, Jonesy had a great run earlier this season.

Problem with Jones is if he does not play consistently and has his games here and there that is when he makes his mistakes

anyone who has seen jones play would know he has good reaction time and shot stopping good at one on ones too. But if not playing consistently can make mistakes but in the a-league will be playing most games. If he does come back lol

Problem is he never really has had a consistent season with a club, exception being middlesbrough where he played 20 odd games in a row before moving to Liverpool.

Would be interested to see if he moved to a club and was No 1. what sort of form he could produce.

You're expected to be on the bench a lot. As long as sitting down earns you money then it's all good.

Jones extended his Liverpool contract not too long ago, he wont be moving to MV....

i haven't rated jones whenever i've watched him either tbh.

but i think it's too hard to predict how he'd go in the hal compared to others.

looking at the list of keepers in the hal you have:
newcastle: biraz
ccm: ryan
sydney: janjetovic
wsw: covic
victory: coe
heart: bolton
adelaide: eugene
perth: vukovic
brisbane: theo
wellington: moss/paston

i don't rate sydney, perth or wellingtons keepers - but looking at the rest of the list i'd be saying we as a league have some pretty bloody australian good keepers on our books now, and looking into the future.

To be fair, Moss has been out of gametime. He was immense for us last night. Whereas Paston was world class at the World Cup, save a few wtf moments, though he's past it now.
