A new winter season is about to kick-off, grading and trials are underway. Boys, girls, women and men are already training and looking ahead to Round 1.
It doesn't happen without the support of coaches, managers, referees & linemen/lineswomen - as well as the officials of clubs and associations working around the clock to ensure that the details are correct - and continue their support throughout the season. Many of these people do it on top of their normal busy lives, and do it without pay for the love of the game. It's the same in the smallest towns and the suburbs of the largest cities.
For a generation you've been my heroes. I'm now a junior coach, and also a seniors manager. I can only hope to live up the expecations of the kids, that I once shared of my brilliant mentors.
Thanks to all of you out there. Hopefully you don't get too many wash-outs this winter.
