I guess so, but from what I understand it was very similar to the other gospels and the main difference was that it included Jesus's forgiveness of him - but I will be frank and state I have not studied it and am just talking from general knowledge.

Me neither, I've never found a reliable copy. But to be honest, I stopped doing those courses a few years ago... I do a bit of reading on it and early Church history every now and again, but generally lost interest and motivation

In all seriousness though. I think he is simply condemning lust, he never says don't shake it 3 times.

Therefore, if someone was to think of/ look at a fridge and masturbate, that would be okay. Whether its impossible to separate lust from the act, I don't know, but that would seem like the only possible way...

I'm not 100% sure on that, but that's my understanding.

It is actually simpler than that, don't engage in deep and undivided lustful desire of the wife of another man.

Sorry afro that is not a good example. Before you go searching that story is the one that is used in the other Gospels as well. The language used in the writing is actually the same as that used when talking about coveting. It is not condemning desire, it is condemning immoral desire.

So lusting after a married woman is bad, but having a toss thinking about a single woman would be OK?

Why turn this into a religious thing anyway? I thought the diagrams were brilliant and a great representation of Earth's real significance in the universe. If anything it had me thinking more in terms of whether or not there is life on other planets. That's far more interesting.

I'm not sure how that conclusion is drawn biblically but it certainly has been by the more conservative amongst the Christian tradition.

And yes, the diagrams are a brilliant representation of the sheer massiveness of the observable universe, and there's not much reason to believe that what we can observe is anything more than a drop in a universe bigger than our puny minds could ever fathom.

The Uniting Church use grape juice instead of wine for communion. They have a pretty liberal interpretation of the bible.
