Almost anywhere is a better shop window than League 2. Unless you're a teenager looking for first team action. Another David Carney on the way..?

League two... Not a horrid option. As a striker/winger he really is in the English shop window there. Creative and attacking players stand out In those lower leagues and can move on as early as January.

It'll be interesting to see if he makes an impact.

To a degree but i feel the A-league is a very good shop window today and if you perform in it you'll definitely get noticed

FFA funding another marquee for them. Hes scored 3 goals in 43 games. Surely if theyre going down the marquee route then Gameiro would be better

It's more likely they are using it to keep 150k out of the salary cap for the last squad space. FFA probably won't fund it.

I find it funny none of the clubs have any Junior Marquee. Seems obvious to me that you'd just pick the highest paid player under 23 (or 21 or whatever it is) and save some cap room.

Yeah you'd think they all should do that. Maybe all clubs do but just don't come out and declare that player x is their junior marque.

McGrath said a few days ago to a Danish media (bold.dk) that he was looking for another club in Europe. Here's an article in English recapping that: http://www.goal.com/en-au/news/4019/transfer-zone/2013/06/15/4049916/mcgrath-eyes-europe-stay-after-brondby-release

I would say that I hope for the Wanderers that he hasn't signed for them, and that he is staying in Europe.

Some new developments in the McGrath saga. Danish national tabloid are writing that several clubs in Australia should be looking at McGrath, including Brisbane Roar, Victory, Sydney FC, and Western Sydney Wanderers (in this article referred to as Western Australia Wanderers  ) Ekstrabladet is a tabloid though, so take it with a grain of salt.

Oh yeah, definitely not EPL standard, but by Superliga standard that team was a powerhouse! There have been a few other Swedish (Djurgården and AIK) and Norwegian (Rosenborg especially late 90s-Early 00s) teams that have also approached that level. Rosenborg actually held the record for the team that qualified for the UCL group stage more most seasons in a row until Manchester United beat that.

Swedish here, and while current Brøndby estimation is maybe off, they have the potential to be back to full strength in one season easily. Things haven't been going too well for the for the past decade to be honest and they are in a pretty poor position at the moment, but they have the support and potential to come back quite quickly.

The last great side they had would've been 8-9 years ago when they had Kahlenberg, Agger, Elmander, Ankergren and Skoubo in the side. Pretty hard to repeat that.

Brøndby under Michael Laudrup was an amazing side. I don't know about EPL standard though. I think the only Scandinavian team even approaching those standards, would be FC Copenhagen, but they are like Celtic in Scotland, in a league of their own.

brondby shouldn't be underestimated. For such a small country the standard in Denmark is phenomenal

I would rate brondby as somewhere between the English championship and theEPL. Perhaps more toward the epl

If we had a young player playing for reading 30 minutes every few weeks we would keep an eye on him

this guy could be good
its too early to tell really

I am Danish and I follow the superliga, and your estimation of the quality of the current Brøndby side is WAY off.

Well, he's got a better resume than Stella and he got a 2 year deal with Victory  If any A-League team wants McGrath, I hope they are smart enough to sign him short term for minimum wage. He's never proven himself as a senior player, and that is all he deserves.

Well there's a surefire way to destroy this league...

This is like any industry man, you've gotta treat people accordingly. If Brent came back he'd be on probably a 2 year deal worth $100K P/A or more.

I'd say signing up scrubs to lucrative deals just because they played in Europe and used to be talents is a surefire way to destroy the league, but hey, whatever floats your boat. Have you actually seen McGrath play recently?

Sorry, you're pretty much right on this one. I just get frustrated when people on here think that all players who aren't marquees should be on $40K per year. I caught a game of Brent's early this season and 3 or 4 last season, and I he only really impressed on 1 occasion. That said, if he moves to the A-League, he'll have more time on the ball, and that'll greatly benefit him.

But like I said before, if he comes back, he'll still be on 100K + (rightly or wrongly)

I'm also holding out a bit of hope for Davies. What I saw wasn't too bad, but an improvement is needed. Stella, well.. He got signed for a few big clubs for a reason I suppose, let's hope he's not Patafta Mk II.
