according to the wsw forum, 15,408 is the capped season members and 15,659 is their total when you add supporters memberships.

Interesting rivalry re-stoked with Wanderers - not ONLY have their 'balanced' the ledger but they've actually tipped the scales the other way!

But still 'time to go' and will be interesting now, with Wanderers capped a while ago - the 'room for growth' for Victory, who are 4k or less from their target, SFC, who are near meeting their target and even projected to exceed it and Heart go. Heart are the big variable, obvious the factor or difference here.

Both markets COULD push a 'collective' 30k membership count for their respective cities. Victory 23k + Heart 7k = 30k and Wanderers 16k (I round up for sake of) + SFC 14k = 30k.

In that equation, Melbourne are more realistic. SFC, even with most optimistic predictions, won't get even 13k, but SFC itself reaching 11-12k members would be an astounding success for a club who apparently had as small as a quarter of number in it's earlier days!

So, Sydney does indeed > Melbourne for total memberships, at present. But it's so close and does Melbourne have more 'room for growth' than Sydney? Guess we'll see in the coming weeks?

Sydney took over last season as far as total attendances were concerned. 417k to 410k iirc. Its good to see Sydney finally performing closer to its potential for the A-League.

In my nerdy/geeky kind of way, I'm a bit overly excited as Round 1 nears, to see how close some of these clubs get to meeting or even exceeding either their stated goals or their previous record highs, prior to season kick off! And too these little 'mini-rivalries' or 'races' I perceive with Joffa's every update. :p





No Mr Brisbane, you aren't losing it - It may be 'my bad' - I just took the figure from tbitm's list and I should add that added to the results I just posted, that 'some' of the previous records also included memberships added during the season/latter periods from now AND also varying forms of alternate memberships released during the season. So even the clubs 'not quite there yet' may already be ahead of where they were, this point, last season. So, indeed, everybody is doing well, it seems! :cool:

So they are surely right, especially if one compares to how they have tracked this time last season and any previous season infact!

Edit, going by tbitm's posts, and mind you he was limited to the info he could get hold of (This season far more info/updates available on this, compared to previous seasons), but tbitm had at this point for Roar,

Gets annoying waiting for updates indeed - but I think we've been relatively spoiled this season, compared to previous. :)

It's hard to compare when one of the sydney team has a membership cap of only 15600. If WSW had a cap closer to MV then Sydney would easily have the highest membership numbers

One could say that, BUT, the way SFC are growing into record territory and given Heart and Victory are slowing as they near their respective targets or projected totals... (Heart may not breach 6k by R1) Sydney still has a chance in this race and it's SFC and their growing enthusiasm which could do the heavy lifting - but for how long?

I wonder if it's possible - could SFC increase by another thousand in time for season start?! :o

i have a feeling we will get over 10k before round 1. we probably have already they are just not releasing it, i have a feeling we will advertise we have reached 10 members on thursday. now that i have a new job i may buy another membership.

Just for your records here. We had 4500 last year. Our highest was the year before that at 5500.

We seem to be going the afl route of inflate numbers. If u go on our membership site they now have season tickets, 7 game flexi passes, 3 game trial passes, and $25 baby and toddler memberships ($25 bib and sticker. Wooo.....)
