Shocking.

Worse than pitching up to training with a dozen flat balls and no pump.

What's the major issue you're concerned with Krones?

For what it's worth I met a young coach the other day. he was the first to get his C license in our region under the reign of the new curriculum. He's now completing his B license and is the coach of Spirit FC's U11s and has been appointed as the U13s coach for the regional team.

We got talking about the whole thing over a fire and a few beers the other night, and he truly swears by it. He loves the work that's being done and can really see the difference between the teams coached by old school guys and the guys who have been taught by the new books and are sticking to it. I personally haven't invested much time into understanding it or how it works, but he said that coaches who are sticking to the curriculum stuff are being watched and promoted pretty quickly in Sydney, and their good work is being made public.

My problem with it is this, the coaches paid to play it and paid to teach it do not believe in it. They hide their true opinions whilst on courses and training ( "The Transformers") but allowed to play the way they know/want they go the complete opposition. Hans burger need to know this he needs to be told his foot soldiers are not passing on his message they don't even like it. As for youth development the don't care they only care about keeping their jobs. Watched a paid rep coach play a 442 long ball kick and chase game on Saturday and he has been on more courses than i have had hot dinners and has been involved in elite youth non development for 8yrs. That is pathetic.

Pretty ridiculous. My mate was explaining to me, that some clubs seem to be pushing it harder than others. He said his club is strict on coaches and what they teach, yet he plays against teams who don't even play with the required formation.

As a rep coach it is frustrating. Many clubs play with all sorts of formations.

Some of the clubs are not playing a 1-4-3-3. Hence, it is difficult for a player to play the defensive midfield triangle well in rep teams, if, we have any break from training, such as a lot of games and tournaments.

That been my experience too EG. My eldest played in the 11's SAL comp last year and most coaches were on the same page. We didn't see any hoof ball until we got to the southern zone where some of the coaches, players and parents really lacked discipline and it showed in the way they played and their structure. St George and Sutherland were notable exceptions. I've watched a lot of the 12s and 13s NSW PL this season and I could count on one hand the amount of times I've seen the ball hoofed up the park. TBH I think most kids would be too scared too even when trying to clear it out of their own box because of the dressing down they would get off the coaches.

Anyone associated with the FFA program in this state believes in the FFA NC system.

It is getting the all the clubs to believe in it.

What amazes me, is that we have a FFA NC. It is predicated on the top European countries, apart from Italy. However, some coaches, still believe what they have done before is preferable.

Our FFA coaches are constantly in Europe, updating knowledge to bring back here. Yet some coaches at club level, still believe they know better, or, lack the confidence to change.

Glad you said that - I was the Sutherland 11s coach last season in the SAL :d

LOL all except the Manly coach who looked like he was a teenager himself and had his kids playing some wonderful footy. I spoke to him after one of the games and he was an early 20's ex rep player whose ankles were ratshit so he decided to pursue coaching instead.

Yeah they were a good side who we only got to play once due to our home game with them being washed out. We got beat very narrowly 1-0 away on the cow paddock pitch next door to the lovely new synthetic.

Was a shame - both teams trying to play good passing football on a surface resembling a ploughed field.

The Manly U13s coach this year could be in a lot of trouble. He told his players not to go to the trial and not to play for the regional team, despite the regional coach personally telling me that he wanted 7 of the Manly boys in the squad. Last I heard football NSW were about to be contacted

Yep had both your sides pegged as the best 2 sides in the SAL comp. The SAP west side was pretty handy as well. I'm suprised you guys didnt do better in the cup comp at the end.

LOL we had that issue last year with training clashes between branch and club. Most of the time its just one or both coaches trying to flex their muscles. I just sent an email off to the association (as they were in charge of our club as well) and asked which training session we should go to.

Yeah we lost a game to Macarthur we should have won easily....given the shorter game times we went behind to a goal against the run of play and the boys panicked a bit and stopped doing what they'd being doing well all season and it cost us.

In the end we went out on goal difference I think.

The state comp is a waste of time, it's a time for parents to go visit the bush, Manly was not the only one that did this, it was the lowest year ever for State metro trials not many turned up, why because the final squad for the state team is only selected from the Skilaroos squad only.
