Anyone doing summer semester for Uni? I'm doing one subject and will not be doing another summer semester ever again. Finding motivation over Christmas is horrible and I have an assignment due on New Years Day that I haven't started.
On top of that I am completing a CERT IV in WHS that I want to get out of the way before semester 1 next year

Have done Summer subjects every year so far, kind of necessary being in a rural campus. Only got the one subject over this summer now then I'm done

In my subjects this sem I got one C and two P's. I have a fxxx-off hard subject in each semester coming up though. Supposedly the two hardest subjects in our degree.

I'm doing some basic summer courses this year, Introduction to Management and Management Communication. Just two relatively simple courses until I begin a Bachelor of Business majoring in Sports Management in March.

Best thing that I took from it was suggesting that you do group assignments at the pub. Instant winner, erry time!!

You've done well Yeah, it's only a three year degree. Only doing two units per semester this year as well. Hoping to finish strong, achieved credits in radio news and print news last year. Doing Print Production (running and editing the uni newspaper) and TV News (an opportunity to quote Anchorman) in Sem 1, then Advanced Radio News (Helping run the uni radio station) and Journalism Feature Writing in Sem 2. Seeking opinions
My course examiner for my business ethics subject online set out two assignments in my subject this semester the first already submitted last month was worth 40% and the other due tomorrow was worth 20% according to our course documents. In our submission thingo called EASE both assignments are 30% each. Someone in the class brought up this inconsistency on the 23rd of December and it was left unanswered until the 2nd of January when another student posted up the inconsistency.
He decided to go by what EASE states and made it 30% for each assignment despite us already submitting the first one before this was announced under the impression it was worth 40%, thus placing more importance on the first assignment. I've posted on the course forum stating my discontent and other students have agreed with me. Its been two days and while replying to other questions has not given me or the other students displaying their discontent a reply.
What should my next course of action be? Formal complaint, email directly, phone call or have I made a mountain out of a molehill?

Over the last couple of years UoN has become stricter with formalities etc, and the golden rule is whatever the Course Outline says is how it goes. The Head of School even needs to sign every single page of the Course Outline to "validate" it.
So if you were going to UoN, all you'd need to do is show the lecturer the Course Outline. If he argued against it, then the head of school. And then everything would be sorted - and what the Outline said would be what each thing is worth.

The uni might have just had a shutdown period during the Summer holidays. Thus, your lecturer may have had only two days so far to consider an appropriate response (this could be in the form of a mass email). I would wait a couple of days before sending out a response. But if you feel the urge to do something about it then I would make a formal complaint. My uni UNSW offers such an avenue for students to appeal their mark or complain about academic decisions or administrative matters. https://student.unsw.edu.au/complaintsI would not push the matter with the lecturer personally via email or phone call. You don't want in the lecturer's bad books... Edited by helloworld1992: 6/1/2014 03:18:06 AMEdited by helloworld1992: 6/1/2014 03:26:10 AM You're right in the sense that the uni did have a shut off period for Christmas but that doesn't stop him from accessing emails from home does it and it certainly doesn't stop us from having to complete the assignment and continue studying during that period? On my course homepage there is a way to check the activity of students and lecturers that access the course homepage and my lecturer hadn't accessed the page for at least 11 days which made me question why he would have put the assignment due date for today if he was only coming back/not accessing the homepage 4 days prior to the assignment being due? My uni is USQ and there is a complaint management process that encourages us to handle the situation informally and if that fails, to put in a formal complaint with the uni. That's why I wasn't sure whether to email him or not. Quote:Over the last couple of years UoN has become stricter with formalities etc, and the golden rule is whatever the Course Outline says is how it goes. I don't know whether or not the course outline trumps the submission system but when replying to the student that brought up the consistency, he said he was "obliged" to make them 30% each. I asked for proof on the matter too in my initial response that he has not replied to. I will do some research after work on the matter and see if I can somehow prove his words otherwise. And thanks for your help guys, really appreciate it.

Got my timetable for acpe today. Got Thursdays and Fridays off, which thankfully makes it stupidly easy to switch my work shifts around.
