Porta would be good at an A-League club.

I'd be interested in seeing Porta in the HAL, just to see what his fans have/had been harping on about.

Indeed - he's 'foreign quality' as in, easily matching it with the level of VISA players the clubs have, even now, but would be NON-VISA via his birthplace!

Surely Ange and others are investigating this?

Which clubs are in need of a good goal scorer upfront? Porta has good size and frame too, in his prime, so could easily cope with the rigours of this league. He has a brother and family who's been living in Sydney for yonks and his 'base English' is surely better than 'the average South American VISA' player, when they first arrive here!

Only 'barriers' may be - wage? Though surely he wouldn't be demanding too much more than the likes of Hernandez, Carrusco, Finkler and others? So high end of the VISA scale, but hopefully not Marquee level wage. Other barrier may simply be he prefers to play/return to his Uruguay club. Though given he's played overseas before, in Europe and now the Mid East of all places (AS an 'AFC +1 Player!') - coming 'back' to Australia surely should have some appeal.

He's indicated a few times he may be interested to play for Australia too, SHOULD he get the call, during Pim era etc... IF he spends a season or two here, scoring goals for fun (Or league leading dozen goals or so per season) and lighting up this league, then suddenly he'd be front and centre entering into a World Cup year?

It's 'prime time' to be recruited by A-League clubs too - A number have yet to finalise their rosters - clubs like Heart, Mariners and some others could do with some strengthening, more quality perhaps?

Wanderers HAVE just signed Tom Juric, but still, upfront was where they were weak and there's still room/need at the Wanderers for a quality #9 like he, upfront?

Woh, 'seems' Holger and the FFA were processing his application to be eligible for Australia, back November last year? I wonder what is the news there? Heck, we WOULD find out, SHOULD he sign for an A-League club this season!

C'mon, Wanderers, Mariners, Heart and co - chase him?

Well, he DOES have family here too - MAYBE he could even fly his wife and daughters over here for a holiday with the family?

Why don't A-League clubs investigate this??! Or they have and we just don't hear about it??!

There's a window, RIGHT NOW, for an A-League club to swoop in, before Nacional re-secure his services for the next few years, and best/peak years, of his career!

It's somewhat ironic, that a player dubbed 'The Kangaroo' may never end up even playing/being here!
