I'm thinking about going overseas around October/November, I haven't completely decided what I want to do or where to go but I was thinking about going somewhere in New Zealand for a few months and maybe working over there and checking out some of the Lord of the Rings locations. Would love some advice on where to go and what to do from people that live over there or have travelled there before and figured this could be a good thread for other people to ask for advice as well.

You want to hit NZ in September if you do go over to the south island so you can catch the tail end of the ski season in Q-town.

Canada's really picturesque as well. I had a great time at their national parks.

Yea Queenstown was actually the main place I was thinking about visiting. I think September is too early though, I'm thinking more like November.

I've done a LOTR day tour from Queenstown, and definitely recommend it.

Even if you're not a complete LOTR nerd, it's really interesting, you get to find out a lot of "behind the scenes" things about movie making.



With regards to Queenstown in general, despite being a smallish town, you can easily spend a week there doing something different every day. Great place!

Canada and Alaska are def places i want to go, would love to stay at a ski resort.

Used to live in QT, worked at the world bar. Best time of my life. Still plenty to do in QT in the summer months.

Only decent place is Port Douglas, the rest is a swampy shithole :lol: ;)

Europe is boss. Travel in the dead of winter and go to lesser known places.

Great Barrier Reef too far away, try ningaloo reef in Coral bay, it's right off shore.

Gotta admitt, I liked Townsville when I was up there earlier this year. Left me wanting for more.
