I'm only posting in here so Sydcro doesn't look like he's talking to himself for another night. imnofreak wrote:Can I get an unbiased opinion on Berbatovs goal? Offside or not? Berbatov doesn't have the speed to break the off-side trap  :P It would have been marginally off-side.

Johnson went down for Brum, hasn't moved in a few mins... headclash, didn't see too hard but must've been in a sweet spot.

Bardsley's goal for Sunderland is in the Steve Gerrard top corner rocket category. Absolutely blinding strike.

Don't seem to be able to put 3 passes together, and have no idea about crossing. Poor performance, only one long range goal to brighten things up. Mignolet has made a couple of cracking saves and the Baggies appear able to walk it through us any time they want. Reckon this will finish 4-2. Edited by Benjamin: 10/4/2011 01:37:18 AM

Bringing on Zenden didn't change much either. What happened to him?

No pace, no engine, lots of ideas - but if there's no one to move for them - and no one with physical presence to get on the end of crosses, etc. Looking a bit better now - but still not good enough. Times like this I look at Martin O'Neill's availability...

I'd have had him in ahead of Cattermole atm.

After that exciting first half spurs failed to take it further
Torres: Still scoreless. Still a bargain 50m :P

I'd have had him in ahead of Cattermole atm. Nah, O'Neill got pissed off with the Villa board because they moved the goalposts. I'd take him over Bruce and his selections any day. Strange midfield today - Elmohamedy (who no one passes to), Cattermole (who'd be fine with a creative partner in front of him), Richardson (who can't tackle and isn't creative), and Malbranque (a right footed left winger). Then he takes Richardson off and brings Zenden. Muntari sits the whole game out, Sessegnon comes on as a 5th midfielder, Henderson sits the whole game out. Most frustrating because Henderson is the most creative player we have - WHEN played in his natural position on the right wing (hasn't played there this season though). Richardson is as good as we've got on the left wing - BUT he's played the season at left-back, central midfield and behind the front-man. Steeeeeeed and Zenden are both good players - but neither can do any real damage on the wing, and neither has the engine to do a job in the middle. Up front - Welbeck and Gyan are too similar. I love them both, but I don't see how they can work together. Lots of work to be done.

I'm sure you know more than I do, but I've always been impressed with Henderson in the middle of the park. Very astute and creative, and I've always thought it was his best position.
Going on my limited Sunderland knowledge - Perhaps you should switch to a 4-3-3 - Cattermole anchoring the midfield, Henderson and Muntari in front of him, Sessegnon/Elmo and Richardson on the wings with Gyan up top? I dunno, but I agree that Welbeck and Gyan don't work well togehter.

Henderson looks his best in the wide midfield role. Allowed to drift in and out as he sees fit. He''s not going to get that at Sunderland right now. Really they should have Henderson, Muntari and Cattermole in the midfield with Steed, Gyan and Richardson up top.

Worth mentioning that West Brom are now in the top half of the table. Pretty amazing considering they were in free fall before Hodgson got there.

Once he didn't have to cope with the pressure he's done alright. He's at his level.

Fabio Borini with an absolutely outstanding freekick to put Swansea up 1-0 against Norwich. Just brilliant.

Wow. Almeria 1-0 up against Barcelona, who have looked pretty poor so far.
And of course Messi equalises for Barca with a penalty.
