Not sure why your surprised with United playing a 4-2-3-1, we play almost a different formation every week but usually have an out and out striker (RVP/Chica) and a Rooney or someone in behind. Only problem was the mentality wavered when under pressure in the second half despite still having options on the ball, not a formation issue but definitely a concern.

Need to have another look at that Vidic/Evra goal, looked a bit suspect if I'm honest.

United changes system very often as you say. As far as I saw in the past, everytime United tried 4-2-3-1, it turned out to be 4-4-1-1 due to the characteristics of 2 side offensive players. It looked good today even without Rooney and Nani. I am now expecting Sir Alex comes up with 4-2-3-1 in UCL.
