Brent McGrath is apparently training with Adelaide now and could get some game time in Friday's game against the Heart. If nothing else he is rather persistent in his efforts to find a club. http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/adelaideunited/news-display/Heart-another-chance-to-firm-up-a-starting-berth/75741Edited by Davis_Patik: 25/9/2013 08:19:44 PM

As a Danish Adelaide fan, I can confirm that you are right on the money. As far as him being a back up goes, I'd prefer us to give the chance to a younger talent from our own ranks. McGrath can go play state league football.

McGrath can go play state league football. How can this happen?! Doesn't the boy have a NT cap too? Well-rated young striker, joined Brondby at 14, around when David Williams did (Who was around 18 then), but he stayed on longer. Broke through and even scored a goal or two with the team, in his very late teens, but then struggled for time and that continued to now. Again, he was capped by Verbeek around that period and we were all hoping big things. He's a big, young, striker. 'Timing' as in timing now could be the major issue. If only he was trialling circa May? Most squads are full now, that's his main problem really. If he needs to drop back to State League, then NSWPL or VPL are the two best choices apparently. Best relative standard and better places to get noticed by A-League clubs, especially if you are 'tearing it up'. BTW He could still see opportunity during the season, as an 'Injury Replacement Player' - especially if any clubs see a 'striking crisis'! Edited by gloryperth: 26/9/2013 04:51:59 AM

I think he would still be a good squad player in any a league team.

Edited by gloryperth: 26/9/2013 04:51:59 AM Djite is injured at the moment. Maybe he can get a short term contract with Adelaide as Djite is going to miss the start of the season. Only reason I could see Adelaide going for him.

Will be interesting to see where he ends up. Wouldn't be surprised if, as mentioned, he does get an injury replacement contract at first.

As we near the start of the A-League, I see both Brisbane Roar & Wellington Phoenix as being down a few personnel. Most other teams have the full quota or close to it 22/23 players.

kaufusi wrote:aren't djite and jeronimo injured? short term replacement for the reds..? Djite is certainly injured, damaged ligaments in an ankle, not sure which one and will be out for at least 6 weeks. He will definitely miss the start of the season. Jeronimo dislocated his shoulder about a week or so ago but was only supposed to off training for a week. Whether he is ready for the trial tomorrow I do not know but I expect he will be ready for the first game of the season. Not sure who Gombau would favor to play up front apart from Djite and Jeronimo.

Cirio is the other front option, he plays the 9 role the same way Jero does.

Would take him at Roar. We're very tight in terms of salary cap space so he'd have to be earning peanuts.
