Volkswagen Junior Masters Australia - Day One Wrap

Day One of the 2013 Volkswagen Junior Masters Australia is in the books with all 20 teams putting on a great display on the northern beaches of Sydney. After six hours of football the Group tables have become clearer, with tomorrow morning's games having a huge impact on who progresses through to the quarter finals.

In Group A both games had a big impact on team's chances of qualifying for the quarter finals alongside Brisbane City. Northcote City and Adelaide Raiders fought out a crucial 0-0 draw, whilst Belconnen United won 2-0 to keep them in contention.

Group B continues to be the tightest in terms of goal difference with both final games for the day finishing 2-1. Pine Hills triumphed over Peninsula Strikers, and Fraser Park remained undefeated with their win over BDSA Metro Juniors. With two games left to play in the group Adelaide City and Pine Hills are both in with a shot at progressing.

In Group C the battle at the top of the Group continued with Spring Hills and Buderim Wanderers an equal match for each other, finishing their clash at 1-1. In the other match Bossley Sports Club notched their first win of the tournament with a 5-0 showing over Georges River. These results see ECU Joondalup, Buderim and Bossley all in with a shot at qualifying tomorrow morning, with the clash between ECU Joondalup and Buderim looming as a crucial one.

In Group D, Box Hill continued their goal scoring streak with a 5-0 victory over South Hobart which assures them a place in the quarter finals tomorrow. In the other match Balcatta won a critical match 3-1 over Nunawading City which means that both teams' final matches tomorrow morning will decide who moves on further in the tournament.

32 matches have been played today with plenty of goals and smiles along the way and we can't wait for this to continue tomorrow as we get closer to finding out who is the 2013 Volkswagen Junior Masters Australia champion.
