Key difference is a sports holding company of England based kiwi private Rugby club owners and a local member owned rugby league club.

South's position is very clear - we made our final offer, which was rejected. We are happy to bide our time and wait for future expansion. We're currently fighting (and winning) a much bigger fight to protect the existing South Melbourne rather than any future part of the South Melbourne club.

If another consortium is prepared to pay more than South were prepared to pay - good luck to them.

Or maybe the FFA & Heart owners simply didn't want to let South in. ;)

Well I can tell you for sure that two of Heart's shareholders didn't want to sell to South, the others didn't have an issue. Wouldn't surprise me at all if the identity of the buyer made a difference.

I'll rephrase:

"If another consortium is prepared to make a more attractive offer than South made - good luck to them."

As I said, South have a more important fight to win.

What's more embarrassing is idiots that continue to take their "scoops" as gospel when they have been wrong more times than not over the offseason.

Anything that they have gotten correct so far had either already been reported or making the rumour rounds.

They're nothing more than pathetic buzz thieves.

All very odd that this rumour (or news) comes out a few days before a season.

People have been way off the mark before and may well be the case again.

I can see value in the MS owners taking a stake in the club, or even trying to buy the whole MH license, given that it would likely be able to negotiate a stronger rental deal at AAMi Park and potentially broaden both clubs supporter base with a year round offering.

The most interesting part would be if this did happen, would MH move its training base to AAMI Park, to join the MS? Now that would be.. interesting to say the least :lol:
