Why is it the norm to go "to the races" and get absolutely shit faced whilst wearing a shirt and tie to try and act like you're all sophisticated and a part of higher society when in reality you're most likely the epitome of white trash?

Clearly the RBB set this up, being well behaved at Pirtek this week, so that they can send spies to infiltrate and create a Sokkah riot at the races.

Caulfield Cup start time not to blame for crowd behaviour
JON KAILA HERALD SUN OCTOBER 21, 2013

RACING organisers have defended the starting time of the prestigious Caulfield Cup after it was moved to the final race of the day.

Cup-goers were more than merry after being treated to a 10-race card - with the cup running at 5.45pm.

Police made six arrests and gave out 12 penalty notices - one for assault and the rest for alcohol-related offences.

>> Pepper spray used in raceday brawl

“This was a new strategy to have the big race at the end of the day and we will debrief after the carnival,” Melbourne Racing Club media manager Jake Norton said.

“There are a lot of factors involved. We will review the security and police report before making any decisions on the start time in the future.”

Police said five people were arrested for being drunk and one for assault.

In addition, 10 people received penalty notices for having alcohol not purchased from licensed premises and another two people for penalty notices for riotous behaviour.

More than 34,000 people were at Caulfield.

Photographs taken by the Herald Sun show a man having his eyes washed by police after being capsicum sprayed and a suited man wearing only one shoe handcuffed to a seat.

Mr Norton said it was “a fairly long bow” to blame any bad behaviour on the Caulfield Cup start time, saying eviction numbers were almost identical to last year.

“Most of the arrests this year were a between a small group of people, after the racing had finished, who knew each other,” Mr Norton said.

“It’s a fact of life that a few ruin it for the rest of the many thousands of others who were well behaved.

“The day itself isn’t any longer and the amount of races hasn’t increased.

“The Police Commander made a comment to us that it was the best behaved Caulfield Cup crowd in recent memory.”

He added the venue had not actively publicised the event to younger people, stripping concession prices, forced anyone under 18 to attend with an adult and all those who looked under 25 made to wear a wrist band which verified their age.

“We have tighter than required procedures in place,” Mr Norton said.

Quality journalism.

Herald Scum. What else can one expect other than complete and utter shit, shoved down their their throat. How people are constantly willing to publicly humiliate themselves by purchasing this shit in public shocks me.

If they knew what they were buying was poorly researched shit, they wouldn't.

I've found that many of the people who buy the Scum don't actually know what they are reading is incorrect. They assume that the Scum is a shining light of quality journalism because they don't know better.

I know I'm digressing here, but a few years back in year 9 we were asked to write analysis of major newspaper outlets in Melbourne (eg Age vs Sun). Pretty easy shit, I implicitly suggested Herald Sun was for stupid people. Anyway, one kid wrote (and I quote)

"The Age is for snobby businessmen who think they are better than everyone else"

These are the types of people who read the Herald Sun and continue to believe and think everything they read in the paper is true.

Police use pepper spray to control brawl outside Caulfield Racecourse

David Hurley
Herald Sun
October 19, 2013 7:49PM

A WILD brawl between racegoers and police erupted outside the front gates of Caulfield Racecourse about an hour after the Caulfield Cup had been won.

Officers used pepper spray to bring a group of young men under control and restore order.

Police descended on an area next to the bandstand after a group of men, believed to be in their early 20s, began acting aggressively about 6.40pm.

After two minutes of discussions between the group and police, the men were ushered towards the exit.

With stunned racegoers looking on, the situation escalated dramatically as soon as the men were outside the stadium.

One man swung a punch at officers.

About 15 police then poured in and pepper spray was unleashed in the face of at least one of the men.

Four men, who appeared to be intoxicated, were forced to the ground.

One man whose face was hit by the pepper spray was given medical attention by an officer as he slumped against the wall by the main entrance.

A large puddle of pepper spray was visible on the pavement nearby.

Victoria Police said in a statment: "OC foam was deployed to break up the altercation. Aftercare was administered by police and the males were moved on."

No one was arrested following the incident.

Racegoer Shelly Quirk, from Richmond, said it was not what people expected to see after a fun day out.

"It's a shame and it does leave a bit of a sour taste to see something like that after such a great day," she said.

Security guards kept other race goers back as police brought the unruly group under control.

Earlier in the day police also handcuffed a man after he began acting in an aggressive manner.

Victoria Police said five people were arrested - one for assault and four for being drunk.
