Our limes are doing really well, the leaves seem to be really fragrant at the moment.
A lot of our herbs & vegetables died while we were away, I can probably salvage the kale and spring onions. Going to try some beetroot, sweet potato, cucumber and onions next.

In pots I currently have: Oregano, Sage, Mint, Thyme Rosemary, Basil, Strawberries, Coriander, Olives and Parsley.
Have a massive lemon tree in the backyard, and a mango true which doesn't fruit in the front.
Currently in the process of a major landscaping job at home - adding a deck to the backyard. A lot of the design is based around a glorious veggie garden bed.
So talk to me in a year about it all

Must say this is mostly down to my wife's handy work.
Beetroot is ready for plucking and we just harvested leek a couple of weeks ago. Only got a few carrots left from winter and cauliflower is coming along.
Tis the second season for our strawberries and they will produce at least 200-250 of the buggers this year considering a few runners we have going.
Spring onion is still solid as is the spinach and lettuce.
We've never done corn successfully so any advice on that front would be welcome...

I've planted some millet, sunflowers and whatever else is contained in a birdseed packet mainly because I want to see what my parrots' reactions are when they are confronted with the plant as food rather than seed in their bowl.
I didn't do much else this year but we've got the usual assortment of lettuces, tomatoes, chokos, spinaches, beans and other things growing. Hopefully apple tree produces more 4 apples and the birds don't pinch them this year. I don't like avocados but the avocado tree has been going ballistic for at least the last half a year. Have to go pick a whole lot of them every day otherwise the front lawn gets covered in them or when the kids down the street get bored the whole street.

In truth we've only tried twice before. First time we tried it started to die off too early before the kernels ripened (not juicy/yellow etc). The second time we tried I think we used the wrong soil and it was just stunted...

We used to grow corn when I was a kid. You've got about a 2 week window to get it right. Sandy soil is better.
Thanks to how boring america's mid-west is, there's HEAPS of info in the net about it though
