Humans pump CO2 into the atmosphere, CO2 levels go up. And you're claiming it's anything other than anthropogenic?

I'm pretty sure the Pinoys have never even heard of climate change.

I don't know what has to be wrong with people's heads to believe something like this, much less to spout it out in public.

The Philippine Government Climate Change Commissioner has himself laid the blame for such disasters squarely on climate change, and is even now doing his bit to make a difference:

SBS News wrote:
'Climate change madness must end': Philippines diplomat after typhoon

The Philippines climate change commissioner has broken down while appealing to an international summit for urgent action on climate change.

World governments are meeting at the United Nations climate talks in Poland with the aim of bringing together a 2015 deal to tackle greenhouse gas emissions.

Filipino climate change commissioner Yeb Sano says the super typhoon that's estimated to have killed more than 10,000 people in the Philippines last week is a reminder of the need to act swiftly.

"I speak for my delegation but I speak for the countless people who will no longer be able to speak for themselves after perishing from the storm.

"I speak also for those who have been orphaned by the storm. I speak for those people now racing against time to save survivors and alleviate the suffering of those affected. We can take drastic action now to ensure that we prevent a future where super typhoons become a way of life."

He said Haiyan "was [like] nothing we have ever experienced before, or perhaps nothing that any country has ever experienced before".

[size=9]"To anyone who continues to deny the reality that is climate change, I dare you to get off your ivory tower and away from the comfort of your armchair," Mr Sano said.

"You may want to pay a visit to the Philippines right now."

Adam Bandt did it too. Flogs.

Anyway, the footage is awful; there's just so many unfair consequences of the disaster. It's pretty much a humanitarian crisis now. Events like this should make people realise how lucky we are to be living in Australia.

The media is not there to help, they want tears, human suffering, broken houses!

The only help comes from the aid groups afterwards!

Shit to hear about Kevin Lee's death. A great man who selflessly took on the Catholic Church from the inside as a priest as they covered up sex crimes and sought to exert influence in the parliament.

I thought this deserved its own thread.

There are reports up to 10,000 people dead. R.I.P to all those who died and I wish our Filipino friends all the best.
