For the reason that people read and believe her shit. It is the same with any mainstream media. Disgracing these pathetic journos is a necessity in a media that is monopolised by the one man.

Wilson is a Unionite, must burn her knowing Union is going down the shitter as fast as the NBL did after the Basketball fad wore out in the 90's. The only difference is that Union has a bigger start point to fail down.
Must doubly burn her that the cause of it is Football.

To be honest, if a unit like Billy Slater feels threatened by that piss-poor slap he got, he should retire from League and take up knitting. Alcohol related violence is a serious issue regardless of the outcome. The guy Slater hit was fortunate Slater didn't hit him harder. So is Slater really. As for Rebecca Wilson. What a surprise she's written another negative opinion piece, it's the only way she gets any attention. True it was a piss-poor slap, but it was an unwarranted aggressive action and most guys would have reacted in similar fashion. Certainly doesn't make Slater a 'hero' or anything. Its just the comparison to what happened to Thomas Kelly that bugs me. The parallels are very real. In an inebriated state and subsequently lacking in judgement and motor skills Slater threw a punch which sent the guy flying backwards. If he'd have thrown it much harder the guy could have hit the deck with significant force and done serious damage - Slater was very, very close to going to jail. Closer than you think. I see alcohol related violence on an almost nightly basis working on King st, and guys are regularly left in a serious state from similar incidents. A couple of weeks back a patron leaving our bar got slugged outside by someone who'd been rejected from a venue a few doors up for being too fucked up. The guy staggered, walked a few more paces up the street as if nothing had happened and promptly collapsed face first into the pavement. The reality is that this was a fortunate outcome to an unfortunate event and Wilson, although writing her usual cynical plea for attention is most definitely not trolling in referencing the Kelly case.

http://www.news.com.au/sport/nrl/australian-fullback-billy-slater-is-kidding-himslef-writes-rebecca-wilson/story-fndv2kok-1226761386008This time it's Rugby League's turn. A few weeks ago it was football. Next week cricket or AFL. While its nice to know that football isn't the only target of her ridiculous opinion pieces, I think that for a woman who seemingly hates sport so much, she picked a pretty poor career as a sports journo.
