Now that the NPLV will go ahead in 2014 which clubs are certain of being included in the new league. For me I think Green Gully will be number contender. Who else?

I'd like to imagine that for the top div it'd be the simple matter of retaining the current 12 VPL clubs and adding Geelong Galaxy and Ballarat Red Devils as the 13th and 14th clubs as representing the two biggest regional centres.
Everybody wins.
Except FFV.

I believe there were also consortiums representing the Shepparton, Swan Hill, La Trobe Valley and Mornington Peninsula areas who might still be contenders for the second division.

Judging from the NPLV structure, there'll only be 4 regional teams in the initial top two tiers. Over time, if a metro/regional team from tier 3 or lower is eligible for promotion, and they meet the requirement of the NPL, they'll be able to move up. But no-one can be relegated to the third tier at this stage.

Quote:Green Gully joins Knights in NPL rebuff Donald Sutherland May 27, 2013 EXCLUSIVE | Victoria’s most successful state league club Green Gully will not participate in the National Premier League (NPL) after joining Melbourne Knights in deciding not to submit an expression of interest. The decision, which comes less than 12 hours after Knights’ same announcement, was confirmed through Gully’s General Manager Raymond Mamo who cited financial difficulties and restrictions on producing young footballers are key areas of concern. “We’re not interesting in putting an expression of interest in either, so we will not be doing that,” Mamo confirmed. “You’ve got to look at the finance side of things. We don’t feel at the moment that it’s viable and obviously a major concern is that we don’t believe it is for the best interest of the juniors.“Cutting down on juniors is obviously a concern. What happens to the children from the age of five to the age of twelve? Our club believes that’s part of the crucial parts of their stages in learning how to control a ball and get proper coaching at that early stage. So they’re going to be pushed back and not have the proper coaching, and then they’re expecting to be at a top level at the age of 12 where they start playing at the “elite” level.”Mamo also revealed the strain the NPL is putting on relationships with particular councils, saying that some football clubs could lose their ground should they apply for the new competition.“Councils will not be supporting any clubs that are on council land that will be putting in for the NPL. So they’ve made it very clear that they won’t – so that’s any club that’s in Brimbank that is on council land that puts in for the NPL, the council will not support it and they will ultimately lose their land. ”The Green Gully General Manager also indicated the club’s decision was influenced by a percieved lack of flexibility from the Football Federation Victoria (FFV), highlighting the use of the word “elite” throughout NPL documents which has caused conflict with various councils.“We’ve had three meetings with the FFV and we’ve outlined that there’s some issues with the NPL. They’ve gone away and said some things won’t be able to be changed and some things they can look at. For example, the name “elite,” which a lot of clubs and council bodies didn’t want, but they’ve gone away and still kept that name “elite.” “That’s only a minor thing but we have spoken to FFV and we don’t feel as though that they’ve had any answers for any questions that any of the clubs have put together, and they’re stilling progressing to roll this out, which is just beyond us, really.” http://www.mfootball.com.au/green-gully-join-knights-in-npl-rebuff/ Just wondering if anything has really changed? Just saying thats all!

Just saying thats all! Yes. South doesn't want to upset the FFA and ruin their A-league fantasy so they accepted the model that was offered. Some people would claim it as a massive victory for football in the state or something like that 8-[

Same idiots still in charge - check Clubs still have no voting power - check Clubs unable to call EGMs - check Issue of intellectual property not addressed - check
As a neutral, it seems that a lot of the issues the clubs initially raised have now been forgotten. Clubs talked it up but then took the soft option as far as I can see

Seems financials is all the clubs were worried about. They needed to make sure that the fees were high enough, and that there'd be enough juniors to be able to finance the first grade squads. They got their way, all good, keep up the status quo...

And that THIS criteria would have been accepted day 1? Small things have changed, but a lot of things haven't.

As a neutral, it seems that a lot of the issues the clubs initially raised have now been forgotten. Clubs talked it up but then took the soft option as far as I can see Those idiots are clearly not in charge - they have been reminded very clearly that if they move beyond their administrative area they will be taken to court, and the FFA will not protect them. Clubs have demonstrated their power - further changes will follow. Intellectual property issues have been clarified. The biggest issue previously was that the 'consultation' process was one way, clubs questions and concerns were not being addressed. Iridium1010 wrote:Benjamin wrote: Existing clubs assured place if they want one - check
huh? Under the original model clubs had to apply for places in the NPL, and the FFV panel had the option to pick the 12 they felt best for the competition. The general opinion was that they would opt for a geographic split, which would most likely have meant relegation for several clubs who have earned the right to play in the VPL. Under the new model, if a VPL side applies to join the NPL, they are in.

cant see the difference netween NPL clubs with specified feeder/community clubs and the regional model. NPL elite ssf is due in 2 years so cant see that a victory SAP program being moved to NPL clubs anyway relegation/promtion smoke screen in 3 years time, great delaying tactic by FFA. Financial model , better ask the QLD NPL clubs how they feel now with all the losses incurred after 1 season.
Europe is funding the war not Chelsea football club
