Lakeside Stadium a possible alternative venue is off limits for the FFA Cup quarter final between Bentleigh Greens and Melbourne Victory as the pitch will be closed off between Monday September 12th & Sunday October 2nd apparently due to top dressing and scarification there will be no access to the soccer pitch and warm up area.

+xSurely it's more trouble than it's worth to move Bentleigh vs Vuck to anywhere other than Kingston Heath. Moorabbin Oval (St Kilda AFL) is the only biggish ground anywhere close to and it's pretty much a dump. South Melbourne might open up Lakeside for them in the name of the #hellanicbrotherhood but it is genuinely halfway across the city and then Hume will lose their shit for not being allowed to move their own game away from ABD Stadium. Lot of history at that oval. Plugger etc. Don't hate, mate, appreciate.

+xLakeside would be pants anyway. Prefer to go to Kingston Heath. Definitely. It's not like there was some huge rush for tickets for the game at Hume anyway with their limited capacity.

The lack of stadiums and facilities available in this country. Said it once and I will say it a billion times temporary seating. I think Devonport used it at Valley Road funnily enough.

That masks it by pushing it to a stadium that is to big. No.

Except: Early stages conflict with the end of the State League regular season and finals also on weekends. Later stages conflict with the kick-off to the A-League season. Premium venues will charge a premium as the weekend is their most in demand time. Fans may be more likely to go out to games but now must choose between AFL, NRL, and later in the cup alternative A-League matches. TV ratings are lower on weekends.

If we use the current model, this cup you could have played WP v WSW WW v SFC NJ v MV BR v PG GG v CCM RU v AU HC v MS MK v CC etc on a weeknight as their stadiums can handle the games. As Redlands drew AU you could make a rule if it vs an A-League team you have to play midweek. There are ways around things. Technically you only need to play one match for a tv time, the other 12 games in r32 could have been played on the weekend and shown online.

Also , NPL games can be played midweek. On average only a few teams would be effected by 2 matches.

It is more convienent imo to play FFA Cup matches on the weekends for players. This has to do with time off work etc.. Intracity games can be played midweek with ease.

I'm definitely in the Cup games should be played on the weekend camp. I don't care about peoples preferences for midweek football or player availability etc, mid week fixtures cause venue problems once we get to the televised stage. The lack of lighting at most clubs is the major reason why games have to be moved to regional grounds which make things pretty shit rather than giving them true home advantage. To me that contradicts the key idea of the cup, being that even A-League clubs could be brought down to the level and facilities of amateur football. Moving Games to Dorian gardens or Perry Park isn't good enough as it means the hosting club has to adapt to (semi) professional rather than than be give true home advantage. Saturday 3pm should be the standard time slot. There is hardly any competition from AFL or NRL then as they move their games later and later anyway. Clubs equipped for televised night football can be scheduled for Monday/Tuesday night like in the FA Cup. It's standard practice around the world to reschedule a few league matches midweek rather than make all cup ties played then. If the Scottish Cup was played under the same conditions as here with TV restrictions, the reality is most clubs below the championship/top of League 1 would have to ask SPFL clubs to play at their grounds as they'd have the exact same facility issues as NPL clubs here.

I love midweek football. Breaks up the week, a good chance to get out to support the local game and eat some good food.

there are issues needing to be worked out regarding improved lighting with Kingston Council if Bentleigh Greens v Melbourne Victory is going to held at Kingston Heath Soccer Complex.
