there are issues needing to be worked out regarding improved lighting with Kingston Council if Bentleigh Greens v Melbourne Victory is going to held at Kingston Heath Soccer Complex.

I can't see how its the case.
Bentleigh Greens hosted Perth Glory in the semi final 2 years back so i dont know whats changed between then and now.

Must admit, a tad surprised Foxtel didn't have Cahill  as one of the games - it is good for the member federation clubs to get more exposure however.

All assuming we don't get segregated from the main stand like at Hume again. Don't think Bentleigh will go out of their way to spite us in the same way but you never know with the NPL clubs.

what's blacktown's capacity, 3000?

i think it was just purely $$$ and they are probably expecting more than 4000+, cause other than that i dont see whats wrong with Lily homes stadium.

It's honestly not something i'm going to get upset about, it's their ground and if they want us locked up in a corner then so be it. If it was up to me, i'd make us do that to all away fans in the A-League anyway.

If anything i was just surprised they didn't want to make it easy for us to spend money on their facilities. If they put a tent up with some people selling beers out of an eskie behind the goals like Green Gully and knights did, then they would have made a killing of us. Heidelberg made a fortune on food and drink sales alone when they hosted city.

You must admit though, it's quite refreshing to see certain clubs not being financially motivated. Hopefully, these clubs can expand their little grounds

The move to Edensor Park is a strange one. Although, I'm not going to complain. I've missed out on cevapi this FFA Cup. Blacktown's catering is fucking dreadful too.

Blactown would have been fine to have hosted it though. Plenty of standing room. You could fit 5k in easily.

The FFA came to Blacktown at the start of the year asking,

If your game was to be televised where would you want to play it that has good lighting.

They put down Edensor park as Blacktown doesn't have the best lighting,

If it's good enough to play Sydney United there, then it is good enough to play Sydney FC. These lighting requirements are a load of bullshit.

As soon as the draw came out Blacktown said via there facebook page that the game would be at Lily Homes, for some reason that changed. Possibly for not being able to offer sufficient seating or security reasons? Its a shame for the Blacktown fans as Edensor isnt that close to Blacktown and lose their home ground advantage.

Fuck this, I don't want to have to drive to shitty Edensor when I can walk and get on the beers at Blacktown, plus the ground is 100x better and isn't missing any seats (LOL).

I understand why Blacktown have done it but would be better at Lily's.

Whilst the Seven Hills Tavern does offer ridiculously cheap beers, and the local Pizza Hut is always on hand for a cheeky feed, one can't beat cevapi at Edensor.

That's the spin I'm going to put on it. Blacktown's catering really is shocking. And their alcohol license is fucked too.

Surprised that Blacktown doesn't have the required lighting. Pretty sure their lighting got updated when they converted to a synthetic pitch from grass. I know the ground as a whole got a very large facelift, and a lot of money went into the ground.

I think it's more got to do with capacity and lacking the basic facilities to host a crowd over 50 people (reg. canteen). I mean you could fit 5k with standing room at the Southern end, but perhaps Blacktown aren't bothered to deal with the logistics of doing so.

The crowd won't be as big as it was in Wollongong, and Edensor Park is actually harder to get too public transport wise. Parking isn't great around the area from memory either. At least with Lilly Homes, Seven Hills railway station is only a 10 minute walk away.

They'd also want to maximise interest by creating a bit of scarcity, namely saving the hype train for the regular season rather than running out of steam before it starts.

I am hearing that the reason for the change is because of the lighting issue, and Blacktown doesnt meet the LUX level against HAL teams. They need to upgrade the lighting which could cost around $300k.

Sydney United Sports Centre upgraded the LUX levels 2 years ago when we played Sydney FC, hence why the move to Edensor.

Not a Phase, Not a Trend, SYDNEY UNITED till the END!
