I watched Owusu play a few weeks back against 2nd placed northbridge at the time. NB were all over them till HT, come the 2nd you could see Hakoah far more settled and aiming high balls at him ! mega solid build he was bloody impressive - turned the game around and they won 3-2. If the white shoe brigade can hold him out all game good luck to them but I'm sure he'll make an impact sooner or later. WTF sydcro/wsw going to this for

Melbourne Victory taking no chances against Perth side Bayswater City in FFA Cup clash NEW Melbourne Victory high performance boss Anthony Crea says his players will be 100 per cent match ready for Wednesday night’s FFA Cup clash with Perth side Bayswater City. While the new competition comes at the business end of the season for local sides, A-League clubs are only a month or two into their pre-season campaigns. But while the pre-season is geared towards Victory’s Round 1 clash with Western Sydney on October 10, Crea says he and coach Kevin Muscat are taking no chances with their preparation for Wednesday’s game at the Western Australia Athletics Stadium. Victory is expected to take a full-strength squad west and Besart Berisha, Carl Valeri and Matthieu Delpierre are likely to play their first official games for the club. “It’s the inaugural FFA Cup, so everyone wants to win,’’ Crea said. “From our perspective we’re going in to win it, so we’re going to prepare the players like it’s a normal match that they’ll be ready for. “I think, in the main, the players that will be involved will be at 100 per cent fitness for many reasons, player wellbeing and so forth. You don’t want to be picking up injuries. So they need to be ready to play that 92-93 minutes.” Victory had played three successive Tuesday night friendlies, but last week played on the Sunday to give players an extra couple of days off before the Bayswater game. Crea said training had also been adjusted because a competitive match was on the horizon. “You have your tactical, technical sessions where you can adjust the volumes of minutes on the field and intensity, so that’s where you start to, when you use the word taper, like a swimmer,” he said. “We want to keep the intensity where it is, but you just condense the minutes. You want that quality, just in a shorter session.” Crea comes to Victory after two seasons under Frank Farina at Sydney FC. He was with the Socceroos from 1999-2006, working with players such as Harry Kewell, Mark Viduka and Lucas Neill at the World Cup in Germany. Having left the Sky Blues when Farina did after last season’s elimination final loss to Victory, Crea said he had not hesitated to come to Melbourne when asked by Muscat. “Everything I was told about the club and expected of it is here,” he said. “It’s a very professional club, the facilities are second to none and the way the club is run is fantastic.” http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/football/melbourne-victory-taking-no-chances-against-perth-side-bayswater-city-in-ffa-cup-clash/story-fni2wcjl-1227027356824

I only live 5 minutes walk from Hensley so definitely going to the Hakoah match. Disappointed that neither of you blokes already going are people I'd love to give a bit of a jab. Let's hope Hakoah progress and we can make that dream come true at another match.
Might see you there, Heine & SydCro.

Hopefully that doesn't ruin the Wolves crowd in Wollongong. Any rumours of a stream? If it continues to rain like it did last night, I wouldn't be worried about a stream. I'd be worried about a fucking Tsunami. That bad? People complain about the weather in Melbourne, but the way it rains at this time of year in Sydney and Brisbane makes you feel like it's not far off from cyclonic conditions. We haven't had solid rain in a fair few months in Sydney. Tuesday night and again last night, I think made up for the last 4 months in a row. It hasn't rained that hard yet. Last time it really rained my backyard resembled a swimming pool and the spring across the street had enough pressure to shoot water in an arc over the road.

If you're looking for a hotdog or a meat pie I reckon you could pick one up at the Maroubra United canteen. I can also recommend about a thousand noodle places. As for tonight's game - Who knows, maybe they'll have some fresh bagels for $10 each. As for pub grub, The Regent and The Doncaster at Kingsford have decent food and they're only a 5- minute drive from the ground. Both along ANZAC Parade.

I'm sure they'll have a barbecue going though, even in this weather. Worst case scenario is heading over to Eastgardens across the road  I reckon I'll have a go at that. Just got back from 25+ hour flight yesterday and I'm planning on too many gin and tonics and beers tonight to reminisce about the Northern summer.

Should the weather be like this, definitely going to need a few nips of something stronger than a couple cans of Carlton Draught. Mind you, at this rate the game might well end up being washed out. Hensley is artificial turf isn't it? I assume the drainage will be better than a normal ground, but with the rain that's fallen in the last 36 hours, even the best drainage would struggle.

Gotta be said, the match day experience at these games shit on the A-League experience. The staff are all friendly at the grounds, the food is unreal compared to the pie and chip shit at the mega venues, you can get up close and personal with the game for a third of the price. Going to Olympic vs Knights was much better than turning up to a roar game here so i'll definitely be there more next NPL season.

Disappointingggggg Is disappointing, but it's good to know clubs are looking seriously at providing online streams for their games. Foxtel weren't going go diving head first into something they're not entirely sure will take off. So understandably for the first Cup, they're tentative about it. Hopefully next year there will be more games, and more games as the seasons go on. Eventually, sooner rather than later, the whole tournament from the Ro32 will be televised, or at least a 'Match of the Day' scenario with full broadcast & commentary, and the other games on a 'red button' thing, perhaps just televised. Hopefully the success of the streams (aside from a few connections & technical issues here and there) will mean individual NPL clubs will stream their qualification routes too . :)

Quote:Westfield FFA Cup LIVE on www.CCMariners.com.auCentral Coast Mariners are pleased to confirm that football fans across the country and around the world will be able to view the Club’s inaugural Westfield FFA Cup match against South Coast Wolves this Wednesday live on www.CCMariners.com.au. In partnership with Central Coast based company VPA Productions – and with the support of Football Federation Australia - the Mariners will stream the fixture live from Wollongong’s WIN Stadium, offering fans not able to physically attend the match with the opportunity to experience the excitement of the Westfield FFA Cup from wherever they may be around the globe. Last season the Mariners and VPA Productions made history by joining forces to live stream four of the Club’s pre-season fixtures. Indeed, clashes between the Mariners and Brisbane Roar from Bathurst and Central Coast and Newcastle Jets from Tamworth were offered to supporters unable to make the journey to country NSW. And with the Westfield FFA Cup having already captured the imagination of supporters around Australia and raised the profile of grassroots outfits and players, Central Coast Mariners CEO Mr Bruce Stalder said the decision to stream the fixture on www.CCMariners.com.au was a simple one. “So far the Westfield FFA Cup has delivered exciting matches and fantastic football stories from all across Australia,” Stalder said. “On Wednesday our team will be doing their utmost to book a place in the last 16 of this great competition, but it’s also important that as many of our members and fans as possible have the chance to view the game.” “All of the Westfield FFA Cup matches streamed online so far have attracted strong viewing figures, and we believe our game against South Coast Wolves will be no different,” he said. VPA Productions co-founder, Mr Luke McCoy, said: “We are excited to once again be working with our local professional football team, the Central Coast Mariners, in providing fans across Australia and the world live coverage of the Mariners.” “We have also been working with Football NSW and the FFA to bring the Westfield FFA Cup to the homes of football fans across the world, and are pleased to know that our service is helping bring Australian professional football and the grassroots game to life online.” Central Coast Mariners are currently working to finalise its commentary team for the fixture, however can confirm that the stream will include a pre-match interview with the Club’s Head Coach, Phil Moss, and full time grabs with members of the Mariners match day squad. Coverage on www.CCMariners.com.au from WIN Stadium, Wollongong, will commence at approximately 7:20pm on Wednesday night.
