I have been told by a friend of mine who works for the company that organizes the events for the A-League (she was recently part of the team that organized the Asian Cup draw) has it on good authority that Jason Derulo (insert auto-tune whining) will be performing at the 2014 A-League grand final.

The only reason I'm putting it in the rumour mill is because I don't have a physical source for it. She's reputable, though.

As for songs, or as to whether it's going to be pre-game, or half-time, I'm not sure as of yet.

I was pretty impressed by the bands at both Melbourne Grand Finals. They were big acts at the time. What was funny though was that the crowd didn't really care very much. Is it even televised? I don't remember watching any pregame entrertainment in the non-Melbourne finals.

He's not exactly my cup of tea, especially because of the atuo-tune making him sound like R2-D2 on steroids at times, but as Bowden said, the international exposure wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. And even though there have been comments in this thread already about not wanting to get into a dick-measuring contest with the AFL, and NRL, it'd be a good little tick in our box.

Will.i.am, Kylie Minogue, Ricki Martin or Joel Madden will be in Oz because of The Voice. Maybe they have some contractual arrangements that prevents them from doing anything other than being on the Voice or on Channel 9 but they would all have bigger commercial appeal than Jason Derulo.

They all would have been good choices, but Derulo is still a big and relevant name who will put on a good show.

There are far worse choices that could have been made that's for sure.

Lost of sporting organisations these days are shying away from performers with live instruments like Guitar and drums performing at their showpiece events because they're one more thing that can go wrong and they're difficult to set up. Everyone's got their own opinion on who should perform and personally I don't give two shits about Jason Derulo and his autotuned crap, he sounds the same as everyone else these days. There's got to be an act out there that sounds vaguely unique. Hell, even MvFCArsenal's suggestion of Hilltop Hoods would be better.

Also Pro Tip: ipods don't compress shit if you use the right file type. Use high fidelity wave and flac files to store your music. If you want to bring back warmth and character to your sound use a valve amp, not vinyl. The resurgence of vinyl is courtesy of the wannabe audiophile wanker.
