Also we have a huge mistake factor because clubs don't perfect their style
If we had just 1 more club we could manage an 8 month season including the ffa cup. This would be enough

They get injured because of their choice of country and league. You must weigh up your options and choose carefully. Here is a tip not the Uk.
+ as the man who runs brisbane lions told me you must do your time forget big fish in small pond and put in the work. He was 100% on the money. So many players already think they have made it because they are good in their team when intruth they have made nothing.

I reckon 12 is the perfect number. it extends the season 6 more weeks

This is how I see the N P L
There are 3 types of players
1 older players nearing the end of their competitive career.
2 players that are ie 24 and reached the top of their playing career.
3 young players 18 who have potential and drive and need more.

This is what we need to identify and nurture POTENTIAL .

We need program's and camps and tours to nurture and develop these players with potential who are not in the systems QAS and NPYL .

We have 2 exceptionally talented players in our NPL team a Goal keeper and a striker . Both players are under 18 and I am sure there is at least 1 or 2 in each NPL team in queensland. So what is ffa going to do. I will be extremely disappointed if they are left to sit on their asses from August through to march. That is what they will do if not pushed. If Malaysia can put a team in our N PL why can we not make up a team of all these talented players and put them into a league somewhere?

Surely the NPL club is running a 10 month program ?
Pre-season starts pre-xmas down in seq.

Yes but these players need to be pushed and challenged.

Add a ridiculously long offseason to the problem. Admittedly, many of the boys play futsal or/and six a side through the summer but it's still not enough. Bloody cricket.

I think the fact that more are playing the smaller games in the summer (than they were a decade ago) will be good for Australia down the track.

Lack of games is a big concern for all levels especially grassroots. How are players going to develop when playing 14 competitive games and a handful of friendlies. I play in division 1 in youth football (17's) but have never been good enough to play rep. We train once a week and play 12 ninety minute games (as there's 7 teams in my comp). But this has been the same the whole of my life, I've played a max 15 non-finals competitive games in a season as a youth player this is not enough to develop. If Australia were to develop more quality players surely it would need the grassroots levels below rep to play a lot more games in a season but also train more at a younger age.

Conference north league.
But it is the same across Europe . In Valencia a 17 yr old will play 30 games a season proper + friendliest + a end of season tour of France app 7 games total app 40 games from mid July through to mid June. All against quality teams on astro turf and small narrow pitches.

Good article, Krones.

Which League do Workington play in?

Interesting he was told he was as good a locals, but he had to be better. This is what happens to Tassie HAL aspirants. As we have no HAL team, they have to be better than players from other states to land contracts.

I would've thought the HAL season of 27 games, plus the ACL first round of 6 games, plus the proposed FFA Cup, would be close to ideal or close to the optimum.

This time round, I wonder whether CCM, WSW and Victory have improved in the ACL by having more games to put training ground methodology into practice in games?
