They might be better off without Pepe. Geez Germany have some back up on the bench. Podolski, Klose Schurrle, Schweinsteiger, Draxler.

After Euro 2000 and coming last in the group, Germany got started with a massive focus on academies. It's really paying off now.

Portugal can just count their lucky blessings that the ref bottled it and didn't send Pereira off as well.

Portugal are going to get destroyed. There may well be some big early exits (Spain? Portugal?), a loss is one thing but a big goals-against makes things harder again.

Nice to see Nani is shit for country too, seriously some awful decision making and execution on Portugals behalf, their ability to surge forward on the counter is brilliant, but their ball use is abysmal.

Agreed, Moutinho in particular is one of the most underrated midfielders in the tournament imo, also it's been a while since I've seen Meireles play...that beard is ridiculous.

Yep, Moutinho and Veloso are really underrated and are pretty dominant in anchoring the midfield.

That groin injury looked nasty. Bad first match, 2 injuries, and their defending is just panic stations.

Should be 5-0 to the Germans by now. Some decent, but desperate defending by the Portuguese has kept the score at 3-0

Löw should just chuck Klose on and save one of the attacking players already on. Give him a chance at that record in a match that's already decided.

FIFA seriously need to address players rushing up to the ref. It's disgusting. Take a leaf out of league/union's book at and just give them a yellow immediately.

Well done Muller.
Looks like Portugal caught the New York Jets' sporting ineptitude when they trained with them before the tournament.

Edited by Draupnir: 17/6/2014 03:35:38 AM Ggotta agree with this. Appealing and inquiring to the referee about his decision is one thing, but half the team rushing the refs face, or doing what Ronaldo did just then, get right in the refs face and chase him, for 20 meters, arms flailing and looking murderous is a complete disrespect to the referee. I agree players should have the right to inquire to a ref, but to chase after the referee like Ronaldo just did, is IMO unacceptable. Deserved a yellow for it. I get he's frustrated and upset, but that's just poor sportsmanship.
