I vote for a 2-2. I don't care a great deal, so long as there are a few nice goals!

I did say the Netherlands vs Spain was going to be tight, I don't think anybody predicted that result! I think this'll also be a tight game, maybe a 1-1 or 2-2 draw.

Good tackles by Meireles. Shocking German defending there, after a good start by Germany. Fuck, and just as I type that Portugal's goalkeeper with a shocker cross, and Germany should now be 1-0 up.

The German public are really pumped of course. Khedira just missed an open goal from 25m but that was always going to be hard to score. Lahm was taclked in the middle for Ronaldo to have a shot blocked.

Portugal are so poor at the back but have a lot up front. Crackers going off in Hannover already. Germany beat Saudi 8:0, Costa Rica 4:2 and Australia 4:0 in the first games of the last WC so they're fast starters. Long tournament guys, you too Holland.

Red for Pepe. The hand in Muller's face was an accident but the follow up with the head on Muller's head while on the ground was enough. Portugal have already subbed Almeida off and are in all sorts of trouble. Free kick for Germany as the incident was in back play and it's just outside the box.

To be fair, credit to Muller for not getting up and just knocking Pepe's block off. For a split second there, he was going to, but he kept his hands by his side as he gave Pepe the spray.

Portugal are going to get destroyed. There may well be some big early exits (Spain? Portugal?), a loss is one thing but a big goals-against makes things harder again.

FIFA seriously need to address players rushing up to the ref. It's disgusting. Take a leaf out of league/union's book at and just give them a yellow immediately.

Edited by Draupnir: 17/6/2014 03:35:38 AM Ggotta agree with this. Appealing and inquiring to the referee about his decision is one thing, but half the team rushing the refs face, or doing what Ronaldo did just then, get right in the refs face and chase him, for 20 meters, arms flailing and looking murderous is a complete disrespect to the referee. I agree players should have the right to inquire to a ref, but to chase after the referee like Ronaldo just did, is IMO unacceptable. Deserved a yellow for it. I get he's frustrated and upset, but that's just poor sportsmanship.

Yeah, I agree that they should be able to question the ref, but I reckon the way to fix it is by giving that right only to the captain, otherwise it's an immediate yellow. Seriously, it's not like a ref has ever changed his mind because of a protest.

Pepe never should have put his face onto Muller, but as far as I am concerned, that was the most disgraceful piece of playacting/simulation/cheating I've seen in a WC since Rivaldo in 2002.
Absolutely disgusted. Hope Muller wears the crown of World Cup cheat for years to come. He's taken over from Rivaldo.

Pepe has been one of the dirtiest defenders in the game for years and I'm glad he got his just rewards shame though for the portugese followers I know but Muller as well is a low life, the over acting has got OTT. The sooner FIFA wake the fuck up to themselves over play acting/simulation/dodgy shirt pulling and arms over shoulders in the box etcetc the better for the game.

In the end it wasn't the exaggeration from Muller that got Pepe sent off, after all the referee had called play on. Not sure how he can take over from Rivaldo when Rivaldo's play acting 1) got someone sent off and 2) At least Muller went down holding the part of his body that Pepe made contact with. Quote:Not sure how he can take over from Rivaldo when Rivaldo's play acting 1) got someone sent off and 2) At least Muller went down holding the part of his body that Pepe made contact with. Muller didn't have the conniption fit rolling himself across the ground either. Seeing Bento attacking the refs in the post game press conference was pretty piss poor too.

Well after just watching that I'm going for any team playing Germany. If there's a bigger bunch of diving, cheating, c#nts at this tournament they haven't played yet. Yes Pepe shouldn't have given him a gobful but in the US Ghana game where there was a blowup the ref came over and said "calm down lads" or whatever and off they went to play on. Both could have easily been given a red but the ref was more circumspect than that and applied some common sense. And for fucks sake can just one commentator call a dive for once instead of this garbage of "he's made the most of that" or "that was a soft penalty". If its a dive call it you gutless pricks. Who are they trying not to offend?

I don't see how Muller dived. He exaggerated the initial contact (which 99% of footballers do when they get struck in the face with a flailing arm) then Pepe decided to be Pepe.

If there's a bigger bunch of diving, cheating, c#nts at this tournament they haven't played yet.

Exaggerating the contact is CHEATING. It's an attempt to con the ref. It's unsportsmanlike conduct, which is a rule BTW. Yellow card for simulation. Would love to see a ref have the balls to give the foul and then turn around and book the diving dog for OTT acting.

The people signing their paychecks? :P -PB Surely 50% of the world hates that shit? Video reviews post match and suspensions for clear acts of diving and simulation. Would stop all that shit instantly.
