There's confidence that Australia can do better than expected in their World Cup draw. Autoplay ONOFFVideo feedbackVideo settings The barnstorming success of Shinji Ono has pricked the ears of one of Japanese football's other big names, Naohiro Takahara, who wants a move to the A-League. Takahara, 34, has just finished his most prolific season in years, recapturing his form with Tokyo Verdy and proving he is far from a spent force. The A-League transfer window opens in January and, by then, Takahara - once idolised alongside Ono, Hidetoshi Nakata and Shunsuke Nakamura in Japan's golden generation of the mid-2000s - hopes to have secured a new home. Photo: IVAN SEKRETAREV He boasts a worldly resumé´ that features stints with Boca Juniors, Hamburg, Eintracht Frankfurt, Urawa Red Diamonds, Suwon Bluewings and Shimizu S-Pulse, where he was teammates with Ono. Takahara's agent Lou Sticca has brokered deals for Ono and Kazuyoshi ''Kazu'' Miura to come to the A-League and claims the striker is not after a big final pay day. ''This is not about the money for Naohiro. He's earned plenty elsewhere in his career and now he's after a new experience,'' he said. Sticca said Takahara, despite being one of Asia's most famous players, would not seek marquee status. ''Put it this way, whoever is interested in him would be able to get him easily inside the cap,'' he said. ''It's pretty rare to have a player of this quality who could be gained for what he's asking.'' Takahara could be an attractive option for Central Coast or Melbourne Victory, as he would be eligible for their Asian Champions League campaigns as a designated Asian player. Takahara was briefly offered to A-League clubs at the end of last season but was coming off his worst-ever campaign, scoring just once for Shimizu S-Pulse and playing only 18 games Read more: http://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/shinji-onos-resurgence-sparks-interest-in-aleague-for-japan-star-naohiro-takahara-20131211-2z6g6.html#ixzz329NUmOpq Would be vintage SST to announce that now Would lol... ...next.
All the top Japs play in the J-League... they aren't coming to Australia to play for less money. Yes Shinji did it, but he was frozen out by his club and now is headed back to play in the 2nd division.
Your whole team needs an overhaul but... RB gone, CM gone, CAM gone, 2nd GK gone, RW gone, Assistant Coach gone... rumours Popa might be going to the Championship... LOTS of work to do.
