Music of the 90s was good. So were the 80s. But the 80s also probably had some of the worst music. Music of the 60s and 70s is profoundly overrated.

Music of the 00s wasn't as good but is still underrated.

My favourite album is from 2001.

Are you attributing that to when the band was formed, when they were most active, or when they put out their 'best' album?

I could make a strong argument for any of those decades and why they were great.

Just the general music of the time.

70's vs 60's is really close, but I think the 70's has more depth than the 60's does

90s pop music was freaking atrocious and music in the early 00s was just awful in general... Picked up a lot though. I'd probably say the last 8 years has been my favourite musically. The rise of folk/indie music is awesome.

I listen to mostly Australian music, which has become awesome in the last decade or so.

Im not sure if everyone agrees with me but Ive found most people like the decade of music in which they had their high school years. Songs have meaning during that time,i.e. songs you and your missus used to listen to, break up songs, party songs played at house parties, pissups, etc. Some of the best memories of your life and childhood.

Nah, I disagree. I could make a very strong argument for the 90's being the best era with the development of the Grunge movement and prevalence of great bands like Gwar, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters, RHCP, Green Day, Blink 182, Tool, RATM, etc. and the emergence of eminem. Not to mention the death of hair metal and bad haircuts' in popular music.

But I didn't graduate high school until the 00's when bands like Slipknot, Linkin Park, SOAD, the return of David Albarn with Gorillaz, the post-punk movement, bands like Alexisonfire, Queens of the Stoneage, etc. and some oft he aforementioned 90's bands released (arguably) their best works.

2000s

When the hipster movement took shape when Radiohead was in their prime (Kid A to In Rainbows)

And bands like Animal Collective, and Bradford Cox (through Deerhunter or Atlas Sound) rounded off the decade

Depends what your taste in music is. The decade 1965/75 was the best for rock music. Saw the emergence of folk, psychedelic, art, progressive, early hard rock. By the 80s it had all been done to some extent. The best bands post 70s refined sounds or borrowed elements from numerous genres to create something fresh. Take Nirvana's mix of punk rock and pop sensibility for example.

To hard to answer. I mean the 60's gave us the Stooges, MC5 the doors, Dylan, Janis Joplin, Hendrix, cream the Mods et al.

The 70's gave us Zeppelin, punk, bowie, bolan,

The 80's the pixies, smiths, Melvins, hardcore the begining of New punk anf Brit pop

The 90's grunge, punk and main stream punk in Greenday and the Offspring? Swing revival and psychobilly

00's sae the rise of neo metal and all that core emo stylin, blues and roots and then the 10-14 the rise of the folk hipster pop.

I guess I'll always say 90's though because of Sublime, NoFx, Dropkicks, grunge and Britpop
