Sky Blues On Call
Monday, 7 July 2014 2:55 PM

Sydney FC’s playing roster will be manning the phones in the Sky Blues Membership department once again this week, as the players look to out-do each other in the number of Memberships sold.

Tonight will see 2012/13 Players’ Player of the Year Rhyan Grant and midfielder Peter Triantis on call before Sasa Ognenovski and Corey Gameiro take over on Tuesday night.

Bernie Ibini and Terry Antonis will be running the Membership department on Wednesday between 5:30pm and 7:30pm while Pedj Bojic and Ali Abbas will finish off the week on Thursday night with the squad still vying for top spot on the Membership tally board.

Matt Jurman and Chris Naumoff kicked proceedings off last week as the first pair to take calls, spending two hours hearing from previous Members, renewing a number of seats from their conversations.

Tuesday night saw Seb Ryall manning the phones with plenty of Members up for a chat with the Sky Blues defender.

Nick Carle currently leads the table after the Sky Blues midfielder managed to renew a massive 34 Members by himself on Wednesday night during his shift between 5:30pm and 7:30pm.

Young Socceroo Hagi Gligor and recent acquisition Shane Smeltz fielded numerous calls as the last pair of the week on Thursday night, with the Kiwi international and youngster renewing a host of previous Members as well.

If you want to renew your Membership, and have it done by one of your heroes, call our Membership department on 8314 5101 between 5:30pm and 7:30pm.

Joffa, where are you getting some of your figures from? 'Fromthestands' says Glory has 1,800 members so far and the figures are different for some other clubs too. I'm not sure where they source their figures either, but given it's Glory, it's usually a mystery to extract any kind of numbers from them?!

Whats the delay with the other clubs?

Seems like they have been significantly slower this year. Did they figure that the WC was on and would wait? Interesting logic if true.

The Club has nearly reached 1,000 members after only 3 days. If we get over 1,000 members by tomorrow I will give 1 lucky member a 2013/14 playing shirt personally signed by me.

We are very happy to see so many passionate members have joined already, and we want to see more. If you have already joined we thank you, and we ask you to encourage your friends and family to join as members. If you have not joined yet, you can do it now by clicking here, or by calling 1300 GO REDS (1300 467 337).

Rumoured that Lampard will be announced tomorrow morning 10am EST. If so, I expect Heart's tally to soar. Also, fantastic work by Victory on that coin initiative that is mentioned a few posts above. Hopefully clubs follow their lead in that regard.

FTR This is what concerns me with SFC member levels too and so I really hope that the absence of ADP does not diminish their efforts to push past 10k members and perhaps a new record level of members once more?! Hopefully having Arnie and a more genuinely stable an competitive squad may help off-set any negatives from ADP's absence. A relieving factor could be ADP's diminishing lustre, including injuries kicking in, back-end of his SFC experience - so the club and it's fans were already starting to learn to live without him.

Wow - Old Heart/Melbourne City surely seem on-track to smash their own record and even exceed the 10k mark, even IF there is, as we might expect, a natural cooling off during the next couple of months? Another purple patch will hit come late pre-season and A-League lead-in, with membership advertising as too general A-League advertising and coverage kicking in, as too the mail out to tardy members renewing or new ones who are late comers etc... We saw this last year with all clubs and when considering City - if they already have 8k or so by September then they'll be trending well?

Though in terms of 'cooling off' it's hard to see at the moment, with the constant publicity feed filtering out - David Villa Guest, Damian Duff signed and now the publicity and speculation surrounding the very real possibility of Lampard. We wonder when this will let up?! Surely sooner rather than later - given is still a full three months till season start and A-L teams are early into their pre-seasons.

And indeed guys, 40% growth on the 6k hey had start of last season is now a realistic if conservative even, prospect! I'm thinking in the wash-up, whether Lampard happens or not, they could hit the 12-14k members mark?! :-k And a cooling off will naturally have to occur during these next two months - or else I get the sense, like in economics, that a bubble is forming and when the burst occurs it will be ever more dramatic.

Re-post and updated for new page:

If MC confirm lampard this year then your members should reach 10k by season start.

Will certainly be a big boost if it happens.

May well be interesting for those Chelsea fans that want to go to matches to see Lampard but don't want to put money into the pocket of Manchester City
