Starting to notice a lot of the generic brand, mass produced 'light' lagers are becoming variable in Australia now. Budweiser's been available for donkeys, and it's not hard to find Miller GD. Have noticed DMs are now stocking both Coors Light (but branded as full strength over here #-o ) and PBR.

If you want a half decent Yank Brew, check out Seirra Nevada. Their pale ale especially is absolutely mint.

All of them are pretty boring Lagers, surprised estrella and amstell aren't the top in Spain and Netherlands respectively (particulary because the dutch i met think Heineken is pish. That said, I'd go for the majority of those over the garbage that Australian major brewers serve like VB, Tooheys and Carlton.

I like the Tassie beers too, but the South Aussies are Australia's finest IMO. 1000 times better than CUB.

Seriously VB is our most popular? It gives me headaches, I later learned from a ex CUB quality control chemist that

1. CUB Brew Fosters
2. When the Brew falls exactly withing highest quality control expectations (when it comes out the way it should), they bottle it as Crown Lager
3. Depending on stock they use the non quality brews as either Fosters or VB
4. To make VB they simply add a preservative, this gives it a bitter taste and slightly darker colour
5.The reason I get headaches , well, that's the preservative.

I haven't tried it since they reverted it back to the old recipe. Might give it a run. Im more into the Euro Beers for some reason, i.e. Heinekin,Becks,Peroni. I just find it really hard to revert back to anything that is made by Carlton United or anything Australian. Although I don't mind the Tassie beers much like the Cascade / James Boags. But CUB beers is just plain awful.

I used to hate it too, but ever since they changed the recipe back a couple of years a go I've warmed to it a fair bit tbh.
