Lucas Neill is one of the three overseas-based Australian players Kenny Lowe is in contract discussion with. It's believed Lowe met with Neill on his recent scouting trip to the UK. Any deal is expected to be for 1 year, and to fit within the salary cap.

If Lucas is signed, it almost certainly rules out the possibility of the club resigning William Gallas.

They already have Thwaite and Djulbic though... And are reportedly after Lowry. How many CBs do they want?

50-50.

Lucas has publicly said that he wants to play on next season and push for a spot in the asian cup squad. Perth Glory would be one of his only offers on the table to do so. It looks like this will come down to whether Glory can secure other targets.

Thwaite and Djulbic make two. Neill would make three..

Lowry has said last week that he doesn't want to come back to the A-League but word is that the only offers he is getting in England are for League One so he may be an outside chance. Glory will end up securing one of the three: Neill, Lowry or Gallas.

Also don't be surprised to hear Chris Herd's name get thrown around the A-League soon. Villa want to release him a year early but he doesn't want to quit football altogether.

If he comes back, I hope the good people of Australia treat him with the respect he deserves and not treat him poorly or boo him or be unsportsmanlike . He's been a fantastic ambassador for Australian football and deserves respect.

Agreed, everyone needs to let go off the hate, he probably wont be near a roos squad again so hopefully if he does come back everyone just enjoys a socceroos legend in the a league.

Indeed, ofcourse he should be treated with respect as a human being etc... the lowest common denominator mention for the folks who need to be told that. They're not here though and they don't listen anyway - there'll be boo boys, but if he impresses then that should diminish if he impresses. His Socceroos days are now behind him and atleast that pressure/criticism is relieved - we see what that's done for the likes of Carney atleast.

Anyway, Perth Glory is back to the future:

Emphasis on 'village', or Fiefdom of Sage?

The smart supporters will show him the respect he ultimatly deserves, but he's lost a lot of fans in the last 12-18 months.

Not entirely sure how the Glory are going to see this as a positive move. He was well past it when playing with Sydney.

WOLLONGONG WOLVES FOR A-LEAGUE EXPANSION!

Lucas might be humble enough to accept this offer

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

How is it a humility issue? He has another year left on his Watford contract if I'm not mistaken.
