Not sure what to make of this but according to Triple M Melbourne's Eddie McGuire he has sources that say that by the end of this year Qatar will be stripped of the 2022 WC.

I might be imagining things, but I swear I've read Eddie is pretty well connected in the round ball code. I think you'll also find that most of the better placed sources aren't in a position to talk. Not implying that I believe him necessary but, ya never know...

Also, I just read the actual quote and he said it's very likely to be moved to winter, not away from Qatar.

“It is more a chance that the World Cup will be moved - according to one of my very close sources who meets with the very top of FIFA,” Eddie McQuire said on Triple M.

“There is very strong mail that they will move it to the winter now, which will throw all the domestic competitions into chaos” he said.

“I reckon (they’d have to make the official decision) pretty close to the end of this (World Cup). I don’t think they’ll do anything while this is on but maybe in about 3-weeks time there will be some announcements.”

Ah well yes that seems much more plausible, especially considering it's hardly breaking news re winter.

Moving it to Winter has been mooted for a while now. that was always going to happen, I hope they do get stripped of the event but that would mean FIFA admitting to bribery and corruption, something I'm sure their "independent investigator" has been "paid" to find never happened.

I don't mind Eddie but when it comes to sport other than ALF he is a 'grade A' cunt. Last week he was on the radio stating that the cup 'didn't belong here' and that we are making billions in cuts and that we couldn't afford to but the "12 - 15 stadiums required" He also was adamant that the next world cup would be held in Qatar not Russia. This is what gets me most about the dick head media down here - they think they are the big time because they cover a sport that is a drop in the ocean compared to the big sports on the planet. There is no way some relative nobody like him would have any mail on something like this over a real journo at the bbc for instance.

He loves to mention on many occasions his connections with Emirates Airlines. Maybe there is a connection somehow?
