I've briefly scanned this area of the forum and cannot see anything about a link from the new site/home page articles to the forum developments.
It appears that a number joined the forum, from following the 442 article links on the home page to the 442 forum, prior to last November.
Unless it is redressed, there is going to be a reduction of new blood. Every other forum I've seen with limited access/links, has eventually reduced in size, eventually making the forum smaller and more insular.
I've heard Kevin say they are, "Working on it." This was many months ago. Surely some IT guys can work out how to link the two again?
Can anyone shed some light?
Do the new owners care?

New webpage couldn't make it happen as it is no longer 442 Aus but 442 Global with Aus content. Plus forum software is shithouse. -PB

Once they figure out how to stop half the visitors being directed to a software installation page, they'll get right on it.

-PB Pretty much this. Most news pages only have comments on the articles themselves and don't link to forums. This was going to be the way to go for 442 aswell. The forums survived the cull but because they are 2 completely different systems, they aren't linked anymore. Be happy the forums still exist! :-$

I'm not sure if I expect more, but I think the new forum set up is worse for 442. I cannot articulate why, whether I expect more, or the site is worse.
It wouldn't be the first. TWG seems worse than it was too. Fox Sports also seems a shadow of its former self. I'm getting a greater range of football articles from The Guardian and the Aussie version , The Guardian Australia.
I agree that the 442 forum is probably why a lot of people visit 442. The problem is that we are not recruiting the new blood, diversifying perspectives in threads like we were for the previous three years or so, to the same extent. I could go onto almost any thread in the Aussie section from about 2010-2013 and see new posters, I'd never seen before, offering different perspectives.
Now there appear to be less posters posting, expressing similar perspectives to what they have always posted. Since the new global 442, I've rarely seen new members of the forum expressing the different perspectives we had for the previous three years or so. There seemed to be exponential growth every month in active forum membership. It is also now going to be a lot more difficult to attract that new blood, which kept the forum refreshed.
I'm not sure if I'm right, but since Bowden has become a mod, he seems to be easily the most active mod poster.

No new members for six weeks on 442.
In the past when one looked at new 442 members, there would be heaps every week.

6 weeks?!? I would have thought the World Cup would bring 20 or 30 new ones per day.

Truth. Apparently the newest member is 'azzaMVFC', and he's already up to 189 posts!

6 weeks?!? I would have thought the World Cup would bring 20 or 30 new ones per day. There isn't the direct link. If we have only recruited one member for the last six weeks, notably during the World Cup, it is unlikely we will get more recruits after Brazil. Potential recruits don't know about 442 forum's existence anymore. Edited by Decentric: 2/7/2014 06:11:36 PM
