Dutch substitute in the 9th minute. De Jong OFF Bruno Martin ON De Jong must be carrying an injury. Let's hope it doesn't affect the Dutch like the early substitute affected Portugal in their opening game. Edited by Heineken: 30/6/2014 02:11:23 AM

The Mexicans seem to be content at shooting from distance. Mut admit, Cillessen hasn't looked too comfortable between the sticks for the Dutch today.

Great first touch by Van Persie. The finish left a lot to be desired. I think he was a tad surprised to be called on-side there.

Sheesh. Tempreture in the shade is 38.8 degrees, with the humidity in the high 60s. Yeah, I can understand the water break, and I can understand why the Dutch look rather lethargic. The Mexicans would be much more used to the conditions than the Dutch.

Google tells me it's 30 in Fortaleza right now? Eh? I'm just repeating what I've heard on my stream. The google "thermometer", probably isn't taking into account the accumulated body head from there being 50,000 people crammed into the stadium. Either way, the Dutch are struggling big time. They're going to be happy going into the sheds at 0-0.

31C and 50% humidity. Not worthy of a drinks break for FFA.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Yeah, I can understand the water break, and I can understand why the Dutch look rather lethargic. The Mexicans would be much more used to the conditions than the Dutch. Might that be a reason for so many empty seats? People opted for the ones in the shade? No idea there but Mexico are definitely more comfortable. The temp in Germany at the moment is perfect for football at around 21. Qatar will need a fire hose to cool the players down, or an ice bath.

Get put pf jail free card there for Mexico. That might come back to haunt the Dutch. They won't get too many opportunities and that was a golden one.

The Dutch were struggling with the heat the whole half. Robben and Van Persie have had few moments of brilliance, but I think it's going to be an error like we saw just then at the back half that's going to decide this game. A wayward pass, or a slip, or just general fatigue.

If they don't, they're going to wilt in the sun like a bunch of flowers. That'll happen in ET anyway. Ochoa is a beast of a GK. Has been terrific in this cup. Great reflex save just then, and pulled of numerous in their draw vs Brazil. He's surely in the running for GK of the tournament.

Pfff Robben with his predictable prancing around the box and Sneijder with a wasteful shot. This is the epitome of a team who peaked way too early. It isn't over yet but they're going to have to wake up very soon. Had Dutch friends say 'if we beat Spain, then we'll win the WC.'

Barcelona may regret getting Bravo and ter Stegen. I wonder who will sign Ochoa? Of course many many rumours out there. If he wants to maintain the image, he should go to a club where he will be shot at more often so Real isn't exactly the best. Tim Howard is good but that'd be a great coup for Everton.

Heartbreak for Mexico. They didn't deserve this, but it was a stupid, irresponsible penalty to give away so late. Was hoping the Netherlands would win, but having grown so fond of Ochoa this World Cup, I can't help but feel sorry for them. They deserved the win, especially after how lax the Dutch have been this game.

Mexico deserved to lose that. Sat back for the last 30 minutes when they had no reason to change their style which was exactly what the Netherlands wanted and got them back into the game. Disappointed since Mexico really impressed me till they scored.
Netherlands are lucky they're playing Costa Rica or Greece in the quarters so they will probably get past them, but not further.

Admittely he should have had a penalty in the first half, was a lot more contact. I think it was probably a penalty, however Robben should be yellowed for the dive. Simon Hill this morning made the comment that if Suarez is banned for 'unfair play', then Robben who has admitted diving (earlier) be given a ban for 'unfair play'. Of course wouldn't be as severe as Suarez's ban, but begs the question what is "fair play"?

Good game, Mexicans outplayed Holland but van Gaal got his tactics right in the heat, which suited the Mexicans more than the Dutch.
I thought it was a clear penalty anyway but I also thought Robben was unlucky not to get at least one earlier. By the third tackle in the box the ref was left with little option. The Mexicans were stupid the way they dived into tackles in the box.
Holland-Costa Rica... I'll still go Holland. If they play in a cooler climate, the Dutch to win fairly easily. If it's hot though, they may struggle.

Malfunction in my recording equipment, so missed the game.
Only saw condensed version. Mexico looked more potent in the attacking third in the first half, Dutch in the second.
Holland were a fragile team mentally. In the last two WCs we have seen signs of greater mental strength. They've come from behind in three out of four games in this WC, to win.=d>
